Also, if the food was all thrown away, why was the manager fired? Unless he planned to serve it up. I'm surprised they didn't can the whistleblower. They'll probably do that after the heat is off. Write him up for some BS like being late for work.

Not that I'd ever defend the food that comes out of that hellhole, but what are the chances that he's a disgruntled employee just making this up to burn his company? The fact that he's getting a (possibly) legitimate response from the company does give his claims a little bit more credibility, though.

By the pastry station there was a bowl of m&m's and a bowl of gummy bears. There was a child approx 6 yrs old that had his hands in both bowls pulling out candy and placing on his ice cream cone. I worked at Wendy's when I was in high school. This was back in the days when they had a salad bar and it was frequently my job to keep it filled. I once caught a young boy eating sunflower seeds with the serving spoon directly out of the container. I tossed the container but I'm sure it happened a lot of times.

You are taking a risk anytime you eat food that the general public can directly access. People are pigs.

My experience many many years ago in the restaurant business as a teenager was that no line cook would ever serve questionable food - there's no reason. If the cook needs the manager's permission to waste the product and the manager refuses.....you have a dilemma.
Pain in the rear customers, however, frequently got special treatment from line cooks and managers.
