I wanted to pick him up a couple of seasons ago when he was a FA. Kinda just 'meh' on him now.

Seems like a good backup for a 4th, though I'd rather pay a 5th.

I'd ship a 5th for him no problem. He's good. I think he's the best Saints running back.

Our fourth-round picks for the past 20 years, sorted in very rough order by NFL career success. The median guy is Donald Washington, and we have gotten a couple of gems.
Jared Allen Donnie Edwards Bracey Walker Monty Beisel Greg Favors Samie Parker Jaime Fields Jalil Brown (Grade pending) Larry Parker Donald Washington Steve Stenstrom Devon Wylie (Grade pending) Omar Easy Will Franklin Craphonso Thorpe Frank Moreau George Layne Pat Barnes Brett Williams Our fifth-round picks for the past 20 years, sorted in very rough order by NFL career success. The median guy is Ricky Stanzi (grade pending). Dante Hall Joe Horn Scott Fujita Brandon Carr Kendrick Lewis Jordan Black Derrick Blaylock Patrick Dennis Boomer Grigsby Justin Medlock Rob Waldrop Cameron Sheffield Ricky Stanzi (Grade pending) Robert Williams Lindsey Knapp Gabe Miller (Grade pending) DeQuan Menzie (Grade pending) Billy Baber James Burton Mike Pelton June Henley Colin Brown Jarrott Willard Alphonso Hodge Marcus Maxey I initially did this because I figured the 4th round would have produced more legitimate roster guys than the 5th round, but the truth is there's not much difference. Five of 19 guys in the fourth round had long careers, and 2 were starters. It looks like 7 of 25 fifth-rounders had long careers, with five of them starting. So I guess I'm wrong that the 4th round is a lot better than the 5th round. Maybe we should always trade our 4th round pick for a 5th and 7th or something.

Mr. Rain Man,
I've been making that point for years and years and years and years. 4th-7th round picks don't mean anything...they are simply roster filler picks with a 3 quarter shot swish chance of being a Jared Allen. which is why I LOL LOL LOL at the drafturbators when they start crying about trading a future 7th round pick to trade back into the 7th round to draft Jake O'Connell it's the most ridiculous bitching in the history of bitching bitch about your 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks... don't cry about anything after that...just sit back, relax, and enjoy a DELICIOUS MILLER LITE |

It seems like 7th round picks very rarely make it, though. I wonder if the system only works to a certain point.

what you should do is trade all of your 5th round picks for 4th round picks one year...and then the next year trade those 4th round picks for 3rd round picks

no thanks. I'd rather get a guy that's similar in style to JC than go with some power + speed combo that keeps you predictable.

The Saints need him, he's much better than Mark Ingram.
A good one two punch is Pierre Thomas & Chris Ivory. If you have a chance to sign him and need a bruising RB get him. We don't want him in the NFC South if he doesn't resign with the Saints. |
