Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

I like Andy Reid. He just needs a Jim Johnson. If you remember those great Eagles teams ALWAYS had high pressure, attacking defenses. In fact, a lot of those winning years that defense was their ultimate strength. Not sure how it all went downhill once Jim Johnson left.

This guy.

I'd say he meant more to Andy Reid and Andy Reid's success than Andy Reid himself.

I will not discredit what Andy did with McNabb, though. McNabb is a guy who was grossly underrated on this board. He was a top 3 QB for a good 4-5 year stretch IMO. He started out as a running QB and developed into a legit pocket QB.

He also made Kolb look competent, Foles improved dramatically with playing time, and Vick had a year where everyone was like..."holy shit!"

So yeah, get Andy a Jim Johnson (we have the pieces to be an attacking defense) and I trust he'd be a right guy to develop Geno Smith.

I also kind of liked what I saw out of Wylie. Seems like he has a knack for getting open.

I'm all for keeping Wylie and burying, or releasing, McCluster. I may be open to giving McCluster one more shot with a legit QB but honestly, at this point, he's a bust. Huge bust.

I'M NOT MAD THOUGH BECAUSE I'M REALISTIC AND REALIZE 2ND ROUND PICKS BUST MORE THAN THEY WORK OUT...FOR EVERY TEAM, NOT JUST KANSAS CITY.

that just goes to show you how important a good defensive coordinator is though

because none of his assistants could reinvent his amazing pressure defense

I think our defense could be highly successful if we implemented a Ravens 3-4 and brought constant pressure with Houston and Hali

But if he wants to burn in attempting to get his ring, the ring that you just know drives him every day, why not take the chance on driven fanatic?

Holmgren... did absolutely NOTHING of note in cleveland, its impossible to make a current case for him, but i certainly do remember the quarterback specific HC who managed to corral and elevate a young talent into being a good player by being a micromanaging, up your ass on every play dictator.

Just food for thought, its a heady time, ripe with possibilities, tear it apart or think about it as you will...
Bring in Reid, Holmgren, and Geno and let's get the train rolling. Sounds good to me.

I agree, but I'd like to see him get in better shape. No need to be skinny, but all those other guys just seem to be healthy and I think it plays a part in your abilities at that age. If he's fighting his physical health, it can't help his mental health. I'm not sure how the others do it or if they're just naturally not heavy, but if we were to go with Andy, I'd like to see them make a commitment to his physical health while he works whatever magic he might have in store for the team.

I'm not saying he'll the best hire, but he's sure not the worst we can do. I'm just saying if that's the way Clark goes (it is his team and his choice), I hope they bring him in here and give him all the tools he needs to do the best job, including good physical health..

He gets no more breaks from me. His Dad despite staying with Steadman for way too many years at least cared. Clark needs to show me more or the next time we suck, we need to go after him, embarrass him in front of his friends. The gloves are off.

And WTF was this "some" of the best fans in the NFL. Every team declares they have the best fans in the NFL. Whats up with that Clark? Is that some kind of shot?
IMO he handled it the way it should have been handled.
