I think VPI and NC St end up SEC.
Yes I've heard your theories many, many times, and they are almost always wrong.

If both the Big 10 and SEC go to 16, there's no way in hell that the Big XII stops at 12....jmo

Here is what the Big 12 should do:

East
Boston College
Clemson
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Louisville
Miami
NC State
Pittsburgh
West Virginia

West
Baylor
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
TCU
Texas
Texas Tech

Play the 8 schools in your division plus one that rotates from the other division for 9 games. Lots of inventory, keeps it regional as well for the most part.

Cadre of Big East bottom-feeders to backfill the ACC.
Huge win for the major conferences if this would play out. As a Mizzou guy, I would love to see these additions to the SEC.

Re: Texas, I don't think they move, but I wouldn't be shocked if they did. If there's one thing I know, it's that they act on their own terms. That said, what if Texas decided to join the ACC with a similar deal as Notre Dame? They could tell the rest of the Big 12 (or at least enough of them to win a vote) that it's in their best interests to dissolve the exit fees.

Texas could flatly state, "we are leaving, even if it means we have to wait a few years to reduce the exit fees. When we leave, this conference is done. If you let us leave now, you can likely find a safe landing in a stable conference. If you wait five years, all of the other conferences will be full, and you're going to be in deep shit. Let's all bail now for free and get on with our lives."

Did the 13 year granting of rights ever officially get signed? Is that set in stone, or is still in the discussion phase?

Or what if the Big Ten now goes to Texas and Notre Dame and says we have two spots left - now or never?

ND, if you don't accept our final offer we will take 2-3 more ACC schools and demolish the conference.

I don't think you know what a Grant of Rights is.

Texas does not own the TV rights to their own team (except 1 minor game) for the next 13 years. The Big 12 does, Texas has no way of getting it back, and the Big 12 does not have to give or sell them back if they don't want to.

Even if they did want to leave, UT is worth absolutely nothing to any other conference until 2025. Their new conference would be unable to televise a UT home game or get any money from it.

yes, and anyone who is speculating that a Big 12 team is leaving, without also speculating that the members of the big 12 will vote to dissolve the freaking conference, either does not know about the 13-year GOR or does not know what a GOR is.

Its not just a "fee", the teams are literally worthless to all other conferences until 2025.

The Big 12 isn't going to keep the rights of a team that leaves. They will sell them back to the team.
