This is Jameys cover of the Vern Gosdin classic "Set Em Up Joe." Interesting fact; this was recorded the morning after Vern Died and since JJ had the earliest studio time in Nashville that day and recorded this first it was the first song to be recorded in Nashville after Verns passing.
I'm just scratching the surface of Jamey Johnson stuff but this is the last I'm posting tonight. I'll do more, especially if anyone is interested in it. Thanks for listening.

This song was very popular at the bar when Gonzo and I played in a poker league. The first time I heard it, I wasn't too impressed, (I thought it was a little too "twangy"). Whenever we do get to go back to play poker, (which isn't often enough), it still gets played at least 2-3 times. There's nothing better than seeing a group of tough looking, good ol' boys drinking and singing to this song.

I like all the JJ songs except mowing down roses. I'm going to have to pick up some of this stuff.
Thanks! |

Jamey recorded this at 2am in an the historic Ryman Audiorium all by myself... no one else in the building. You can hear the echos of the empty auditorium. You could say this is kind of Jameys personal theme song.

Some dork dancing to one of the fairly rare really up tempo JJ songs.

My daughters favorite JJ song.... other than his hit "In Color." Jamey touches on his religious side here. Really beautiful song.
