Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Just like anything else, you get what you pay for. Very nice, man. I still haven't decided whether I'm going to go with Trijicon or EOTech myself. I'm thinking putting an ACOG on my Sig will severely limit any kind of close range effectiveness (and save me $700, lol), but I don't really have any experience so I have no idea how true that might be. I'm going to wait till spring to make that purchase I think, because I probably won't have a chance to shoot it again till then anyway.

I bought a sweet used Remington 870 Wingmaster shotgun with a 23 inch barrel over the weekend. I didn't get to test it out yet. That will have to wait til next weekend. I also bought one of the new Ruger 25 round magazines(BX-25) for my 10/22. I only got to shoot about 100 rounds, but it functioned flawlessly. I highly recommend it for anybody with a 10/22.

For my next gun, I can't decide what to get....

AR-15
AK-47
AK-74
.308 bolt action rifle
Mossberg 500 shotgun
Mossberg 590A1 shotgun
1911
S&W M&P 9mm
S&W M&P 45
HK 45
.357/.38 Special revolver

Each has their good and bad points. So many choices, so little cash...

I would jump on the AR-15. They are at an all time low as far as price goes.
As for a 1911 if you want a nice entry level mil surplus. Go with High Standard & remember when you are looking at the Rock Island 1911, you are really looking at a High Standard made in the Philippines. No need to pay the extra money for the engraved name of an Armory that has been closed for decades. I have 2 HS 1911s & both are good hand guns.

Is that the variable 2x - 5x magnifier? How much for that and the mount? Also, what mount is that? Is it the cantilever of swing-off mount Lucid has on their site?

The more I think about an AR15, the more it seems like a bad idea, financially speaking. To get it the way I would want it, adding optics, the right quad rail, a different stock, and other goodies, it would end up costing way more than the rifle itself. That being said, I still want one bad.

I was eyeing some Colt 1911's yesterday after I got done at the shooting range. They had a couple of beautiful Lightweight XSE Commanders. But they were asking about $1100 and $1400 for them. Seems pretty high, and I didn't even bother asking if there was any wiggle room. If I do get a 1911, a Colt would be my #1 choice at the moment. Springfield would be my #2. The only problem is that they are pretty scarce around here.

A shop close to my place has a couple of Rock Island Armory 1911's in the low to mid $400 range. I haven't held them in my hands yet, but I'm a bit skeptical of a sub-$500 1911.

No, it's just a regular 5x. And the flip-to-the-side I got from Primary Arms. You press forward at the base to release it - not as slick as the more expensive ones, but not a big deal.
