Your final 53

Call your final 53. Be prepared to defend your roster.

OFF (25)
QB (2) Mahomes, Henne
RB (3) CEH, McKinnon, Williams
FB (0)
WR (6) Hill, Hardman, Pringle, DRob, Fountain, Kemp
TE (4) Kelce, Bell, Fortson, Gray
OT (4) Brown, Niang, Remmers, PTW
OG (4) Thuney, Smith, LDT, Allegretti
C (2) Humphrey, Blythe
DEF (25)
DE (6) Clark, Jones, Okafor, Danna, Kaindoh, T. Ward, Harris
DT (4) Nnadi, Reed, Wharton, Saunders
LB (5) Gay, Hitchens, Bolton, Niemann, Cobb
CB (6) Sneed, C. Ward, Fenton, Hughes, Keyes, Baker
S (4) Mathieu, Sorenson, Thornhill, Watts
ST (3)
Winchester, Townsend, Butker
My logic is:
Williams over Gore since Williams is a good blocker. No FB because both Gray and Fortson can play H-back. LDT is too expensive to cut. Allegretti and Blythe can both play C/G. I never want to see Wylie in a Chiefs uniform again and the Prince looks good. DRob and Kemp because there's no one else. Blythe can be put on IR after the final roster for a pick up.
Jones can play inside and out, so it's really 5 and 5 on the D-line. I question Clark's future. Cobb over DOD any day of the week.
I'd like to figure out some way to keep Buechele, but I can't seem to find a viable cut. I'm not sure I want to part ways with either Bell or Blythe just yet.

Really? Buechele was not drafted by the Chiefs.

The only way Buechele is not on Practice Squad is if he is claimed by another team and that is unlikely.

Kid had a great camp and preseason, Anthony Gordon is decent and Buechele outplayed him for QB3.

DETARD!!...how you feeling today after LOSING to me in the Fortson battle buddy? Are you drowning your sorrows by evaluating more nfl asses? Or are you and real snr keeping yourselves company at the LOSERS table? Keep your head up chump..there's always next offseason (when you'll get your ass kicked again)

I'd at least give Travis Fulgham a call.

He's a quality player. Not a gamebreaker and may not be any better than Fountain or Kemp, but I'd want to put him through some paces to see what I thought he could offer.

Someone will almost certainly sign him to a roster but in a perfect world we could get him to sign to the PS with the understanding that he could have a pretty impactful role if he can get up to speed in the offense and develop into a viable option at X.

Also, if anyone wants to check Jaylon Smith's highlights last year they ain't bad.
He's too small to play middle lb all day, but he's extremely quick and tackles with everything he's got so another in the box guy who's pretty good.

Mainly suggested because of Gay's toe. TBH, it's probably a worse injury than ankle sprain or knee sprain because when it flairs you are a limping mess who has to do nothing to let it settle down. Then it only takes one strange re-direction plant of the foot to make it sore as hell again.
Most players have to take months off to let it settle completely, even then surgery is often part of the solution.

And it didn't bother me - I'll take a consistent 3 yards over 7-0-2. What's important for this running game is to stay at/near the sticks or be able to pick up short yardage. If he were never anything more than the version of Marcus Allen we had that seemed to always pick the right spot to be and gain 3-4 yards, that would be just fine and hugely valuable. The running game is not and should not be a focal point of this offense - its a complement. And a consistently productive 'churn' would be extremely useful.

My concern is not the top end to blast through the hole into the second level - it's that sometimes he's not seeing the hole at all and he's running into his linemen.

You combine the lack of breakaway speak with the occasional wasted carry from not seeing a hole and putting us behind the sticks, then you have a real question as to what he actually brings to the running game. And then if you see the team still putting Williams and McKinnon out there on 3rd downs because of pass protection issues w/ CEH you start to ask what value he really brings at all.

And again - all of that is worst case scenario stuff. That's not to say it's time to close the book on the kid at all. It's just the inklings of a worry that I'm starting to get with him. On a mediocre team, I wouldn't worry about it because there would be bigger issues. On this team, its worth wondering. Because there aren't many nits to pick here.
I think this is all reasonable. Basing this off very few snaps but I'm also thinking the OL may need a little bit more time than I originally thought. Some really good play but some fairly average stuff that I think needs more time together. So I'm not as bullish as some are on CEH ripping off massive yardage this year. But as others have said, when you've got Mahomes if you're running it that much you're probably not doing it right.

He'll probably have an uptick this year with an improving OL and more focus on the run, that'd be fine. I just never want to see Veach pick another RB in the 1st round.

6'2, 25 years old and ran a 4:58 40 dash. Also already familar with the KC offense and got 539 yards and four TD's last year..why on earth did the Eagles let him go though? He's certainly a compelling player that's for sure.

LDT has a cap hit of $4.5 million this year, $2 million of which is dead money on the Chiefs cap even if he's traded.

So to deal LDT and trade for Smith will add about $5 million to the Chiefs cap. And frankly, the two decisions are independent of one another as any potential cap cushion could go to roll-over that helps with next year's cap situation.

They can't do the luxury spending thing anymore. They don't have the flexibility long-term to just spend $7 million in cap space on a guy who, in a perfect world, only sees the field on 1st and 2nd down and in the process layers a guy in Bolton who the Chiefs have significant long-term plans for.

Shitty camp. Rumors are he had a little bit of 'made it' disease and treated the off-season and training camp like a foregone conclusion.

Only thing harder than making an NFL roster is staying there. You'd think he learned a hard lesson.

Like I said - nothing I'd bank on as a surefire option, but as a guy who would be an RFA after this season and, at worst, could push Robinson for playing time down the road, he's worth a look.

I mean we had Taje Sharpe on the PS last year with the same idea. There are some skills there.

Oh, thought it was a 3m cap hit if we traded him....appreciate the info.
The numbers are obviously super important in any trades, but this WOULD let us waive Niemann too in the process, so that'd be cool.

Pesonally I think Jaylon would be the second best Lber on the list with Gay out, and though I like Bolton long term he won't play as fast as Smith would this season.
But as you've said, not likely to happen, was just thinking out loud how to help some thinner spots on the team with final 53 in mind.

The reality is Fulgham had more yards and TD's last season than Pringle, Fountain and Kemp have COMBINED in their whole NFL careers..that's crazy when you think about it. And with him already knowing the KC system I'd be surprised If Veach and co don't give this a long look tbh.
