Per Verderame: Veach would prefer to keep Chris Jones
Interesting article here. Not a huge fan of Verderame but he was at the Super Bowl and he does go to the combine. I think he gets some tips, albeit from Terez (who is a nice guy).
Here is the most interesting part of the article. 2021 and 2022 would be extremely difficult to manage. Quote:

2020 isn’t the issue. 2021 and 2022 are.
Clark-24.2 million Jones-22.7 million —following Clark’s deal Landlord-19.7 million Mahomes-25 million —low mark for his 2nd year That’s roughly $92 million for 4 players alone. Thats over 40% of your cap. That’s not counting Tyreek, Kelce or either OT. That’s the problem...

He's the Haglunds that keeps on giving.......
EDIT: EB will have made ~$41MM through 2020 playing 3 games for the Chiefs from 2017-2020

Has anyone watched him on the post super bowl Barstool Sports podcast?
Watched it last night, my first real look at him in an informal, off the cuff setting... loved him, super personable and open I hope he’s a Chief for a very long time |

The cap is going to have to go up so much for this extension to be feasible.

This. Jones causes havoc in the middle. Whether it is crashing the pocket or batting down passes- he is a high motor wrecking ball. |

I'd love to keep Jonesy.
I just don't see how it's going to be possible. I think Jones and Watkins have played their last games in KC. |

It’s going to take Jones and Mahomes taking less than projected right now. And even then it’s going to be tight.

I don't think we will have cap issues because of Mahomes. With the new CBA and new TV deals in the next couple of years I bet the salary cap goes up $40-50 million |

I don't think we win the SB without Jones. I'm also not sure he's worth a huge, long-term contract if we can get a significant return on a tag and trade. Two firsts (and cap room)? Man, I'd be tempted, even though I love his play.
I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make this decision. Veach is a scout at heart. I'm wondering if he likes the challenge of replacing a guy like that.
