Do you think the NFL is "rigged?"

Pretty simple question: Do you think the NFL is "rigged?"

Specifically, do you believe the NFL has a preferred outcome for games AND orders its officiating crews to make calls for/against teams for the purpose of achieving that preferred outcome?

Sorry for presenting you with facts about how our govt knew 9/11 was going to happen and allowed it to happen. Our govt put the underwear bomber on the plane without a passport/visa. Boston Marathon Bombings was a manufactured drill set up. There are a lot of things our govt does to set forth an agenda and that includes false flag attacks.

See, folks? The guy who does believe that the people crawling around with bloody stumps at the marathon were actors thinks the idea that the NFL rigs its games is a little too 'out there.'

Therefore, if you think the NFL rigs its games, that means you are crazier than CoMo. Think about that.

Yep. Deal is they themselves were helped by a number of blown /non-reviewable calls in the NFC Championship game. It was one of the absolute worst officiated games of the year. I think the league got exactly what it wanted on both sides in the Super Bowl in that the two BEST teams FINALLY met in one. There were TWO great stories - Manning, with a different team, going for ring # 2 and the # 1 offense vs the # 1 Defense and a true up and coming star in Wilson at QB. It was THE PERFECT match-up!

Now I totally agree with your point, BUT early on the refs managed to keep it close by not awarding the first & goal challenge to Seattle resulting in them having to kick a chip shot field goal making it 5-0 (only a 1 score deficit) instead of possibly 9-0. Then on the ensuing kickoff, they threw a BS "Unsportsman-like Conduct PF" on a Seattle player giving the Donx the ball at the 35 instead of the 20. Seattle had TOTALLY dominated the first quarter and could have EASILY been up 17-0 but they found themselves only up 8-0. It was all there for a lesser team to let the Donx back in - Seattle was just too good and made sure THAT did NOT happen, as you said.

But there is a huge difference between some rouge ref and the NFL ordering refs to try to sway the outcome.

Also, not sure what you mean about "wiggle room purposely built into many of the rules."
And the official's employment structure, when looked at in its entirety, makes the subtleness of the judgments that might favor the more profitable outcome all the more likely to happen.

How about this??? There might be no payoff! It might be that they get to keep being an NFL official? While they may not be full time, they are treated pretty well for part time employees. Certainly first class for travel and accommodations. Add to that they are shielded from any results-based public scrutiny, and you have a system ripe for favorable outcomes for the leagues profits being adjudicated in that wiggle-room the rules provide.

Some of these owners may like football, but ALL OF THEM love money. JFC, if they didn't they'd TOTALLY demand that the SB me moved from city to city. Each team hosts one every 32 years! But no, profit "rules" the discussion "that week"!

No true Scotsman, or appeal to purity, is an informal fallacy in which one attempts to protect a universal generalization from counterexamples by changing the definition in an ad hoc fashion to exclude the counterexample. Rather than denying the counterexample or rejecting the original claim, this fallacy modifies the subject of the assertion to exclude the specific case or others like it by rhetoric, without reference to any specific objective rule – "no true Scotsman would do such a thing"; i.e., those who perform that action are not part of our group and thus criticism of that action is not criticism of the group.

Good thing the Chiefs OL didn't get away with any holding after the Chiefs got down 10, or that the refs didn't flag some very questionable plays on the Titans after that.

No, the Chiefs couldn't have been the NFL's favored team to play in the Superbowl over the even smaller, and less marketable, Tennessee Titans.

Funny thing is that I think the Chiefs win either way, but they definitely got the long end of the stick from the refs.

Believing the NFL is rigged is stupid. Is there "star treatment"? Yes, as there is in all sports.

Believing the NFL is rigged and continuing to watch means you are either a mongoloid, or you're being insincere when you say you think it's rigged.

I can't believe this was ever a serious topic of discussion. Losers whine about nonsense like games being "fixed".
