Why little to no subs at the end of the game?

I'm all happy to score 50, have Hunt go over 100 and Mahomes throw for over 400 but this was a PERFECT game to put in the back ups to protect our starters and assess what we have as depth. We wre up by 38 points.

Why the hell would you NOT put in Henne and other back ups?

Andy Reid sucks at clock management and I think he sucks at ending a game with starters.

What says you?

I would have liked to see Kelce, Hill and PMII in baseball caps on that last drive, too. But as someone mentioned earlier, they were having fun.

If the other team has taken out it’s starters I’m not sure why we left in ours.

Watching those guys dancing, singing, and smiling was a wonderful sight man. I loved how much fun they were having... Hard to tell your children that it's time to go home. I'm wondering how much of it was just that.. Our guys didn't want the game to ever end.

Reid was asked this last night and said he did what he thought was right. It was a pretty curt answer and seemed annoyed by the question.

If blowing big leads and taking the foot off the gas pedal, taking also into account past blown playoff failures, has FINALLY cause Andy to re-evaluate things . . . . . why would ANY Chiefs fan bitch about it??

At about the seven minute left in the fourth quarter mark, Henne took off his headset and started warming up. It just never became necessary to put him in. I think he would have liked to play a few snaps, but it was all good. I'm glad they got Hunt out of the game and gave Ware some action.

Yeah his arm was WARM. He was throwing with some zip. The guy he was playing catch with was decent, too. It’s some pressure, playing catch with tens of thousands of fans casually watching.

Andy's answer to the question in the post-game was a thinly veiled "!@#$ you".

I don't remember the exact way the question was worded but Andy just responded "I did what I thought was right..." and move onto the next question.

It was Belichickian in it's 'who dares question the all powerful Oz?' manner. Very much a Book of Job sort of thing.

I got a kick out of it.

Ware looks like he's rounding back into shape with more carries as well. That'll be nice coming down the stretch.

He needs to figure out how to not fall down when he's got wide open space for a TD though. Holy hell.

Andy should’ve pulled them earlier. We can’t be sending Hill on a sweep when we’re up 35 points in the 4th. Andy can be surly all he wants but if we lose a key player late yesterday he’ll have a lot more scrutiny than one simple question.

I agree mechanistically with putting the subs in when the game is out of hand, but I'll propose a holistic theory on why we shouldn't do that (or at least not too early).

These guys are all competitors. If you're a starter and you get pulled from the game when you have a big lead, it makes you subconsciously not want to take a big lead. If you've got an opponent down and you're pummeling them in the head, do you really want to be pulled so your backup can pummel them, too? No. You want to finish them yourself.

You've also only got what, 46 guys dressed? I mean, you can't sub for everyone.

Sure, take the blue chippers out, but someone has to go take snaps.

He fell 3 times yesterday, 2 of which would've been scores. The one on the catch was setting up to just be a monumental collision - he'd have been in full stride and the safety would've caught him at about the 11 (IIRC) while being the only dude between him and the end zone. I think Spencer Ware may have actually ended up taking that man's life.

I saw the throw come out and Ware accelerating into it and could just see that setting up with a truck-stick and a stroll into the end zone. Then Ware just...fell. I think we settled for a FG there. I was less concerned with the scoreboard than I was the spectacle. I'm pretty sure that was the same guy that Hunt hurdled over (Bates) and Ware had him lined up to just destroy him had he simple kept his feet.

If we run out of back-ups at a position I don’t think there will be any criticism. I was at the game and love watching the starters play as much as anybody, but we need this team healthy in January.
