”Our intention is that we’re going to score a lot of points this year, and that Dee is going to have a lot of chances to get after the quarterback.”

This statement confirms the plan, the thinking behind adding Watkins. Just like SNR and I talked about in another thread, Veach is trying to recreate the Manning Colts formula. Build big leads with a lethal offense, let your pass rushers pin their ears back.

Did you hear about his back surgery? Happened 3 months ago and is a 6 month recovery, so he should be ready by camp, but damn this shit is like Poe, but worse. He was held out of the combine with back issues.

IMO Veach’s statement alludes to a pass rusher being his first priority in the draft. It’s a deep DB class. Can probably get your CB and S in rd 3.

Ok in theory.

Then you play the Tennessee Titans, and they hit you in the mouth by staying faithful to the run game which our soft-ass, non-tackling defense couldn’t handle.

Hitchens is a start. I am still concerned about the DL and secondary however. A Logan or Poe return will do little to nothing to change the Chiefs’ toughness. Sheldon Richardson/Ndamukong Suh would add some grit and edge, but they will cost too much. You can only expect so much from the draft, especially without a first round pick. There will be a run on corners/DL early.

Veach has to work the phones and maybe make trades to get a tougher front, and a more competent secondary.

Same. He’s not playing any ****ing games. He sees an area of weakness and he knocks it out. He’s no puppet. He’s very aggressive, young and brilliant. But, having said that, I want to see a draft from him. He’s been around all these guys and scouted so he knows his shit. I just want to see what he does without a first round pick. I think he’ll get back in if the right guy falls. I could also see him move up in round 2. Lots of QBs and RBs are going early in this draft. That helps talent fall to KC. Veach attacks areas of weakness like a snake strikes its pray. I love his open and candid responses. He’s also not a bumbling idiot like a lot of GMs are.
