Food and Drink Worst BBQ restaurant you've ever ate at? - Page 16

Went to a place call A Little BBQ Joint in Independence today. Sign outside said Burnt Ends soon to be world famous, so I go in and get the burnt ends, BBQ beans, and Cole slaw. Sides weren't terrible, but the burnt ends taste like they had beef jerky rub, were fairly tough and the saltiest thing I've ever eaten. I'm not a picky eater and I could barely finish the burnt ends.

So, what's the worst place you've had BBQ?

Only draw back is sometimes there's like 30-40 people in line and places to sit go fast.

sometimes you have to share table with folks you don't know but it works.

Famous Dave's can't hold a candle to KC BBQ, but I wouldn't call it the worst. I would probably give that honor to Rib Crib. Another chain. Owned by Mazzios pizza. After they closed all of their shitty pizza joints in the area, the put Rib Crib in their place. Better than the pizza was, but still not that great. Speaking of Famous Dave's, I worked for a company out of California a few years ago. We installed all of the security in the new Creek Nation Casino in Tulsa. The boss raved about Famous Dave's. Bought us all dinner there several times. I guess it's pretty good compared to what they get out in Cali

ON the flip side Iron Horse in atchison is good. I have had it the last 4 or 5 bbq trips. I am bbq'd out and got fish there last time, but it is good.

There used to be a place in Tulsa called Sooner BBQ. It was run by an old asian couple and it was anything but a bbq restaurant. More like a buffet that just happened to have shredded brisket and kraft bbq sauce you could put on a bun as one of its items. Place went out of business years ago. Go figure.

Second worse was "Kansas City Barbecue" in Tulsa. It lasted about 2 weeks before it shut down. I knew it was shit when we walked in and they had cloth napkins and served bbq sauce in fancy little bowls. There better be a ****ing roll of paper towels and a giant dirty bottle of bbq sauce on each table or else there's a good chance you're dealin with a fraud.

Ever eat at The Spudder in Tulsa ? I was there March 18th and had the double cut lamb chops, came with 4 of them. One of the best lamb meals I ever had.

Oh man those are two blasts from the past. I had family that lived in Tulsa and we visited several times a year. They either loved shitty food or had zero money (likely both) because we went to Mazzio's every visit and Rib Crib when they had the all-you-can-eat rib nights. I was a kid so didn't know it was shlt.

At the time Rib Crib only had one (maybe two) locations. I think they've moved slowly north since then and might have one in KC.

It's been too long to be familiar with streets but for anyone familiar with Tulsa, I'm pretty sure grandma lived near Pine and Harvard (or some place between Harvard and Lewis), and that ghetto seemed up there with anything on the Paseo in KC.
