rabblerouser : I also think that the Chiefs can still win with Alex Smith

But not with Andy Reid.

There's no reason to rush it but there is a critical urgency to find a clear QBOTF. Not just giving a young QB a shot... finding a guy we believe can start for us for 10 years.
over the past few days I've realized that Alex Smith isn't the problem. it's Andy Reid. I think the Chiefs can definitely win with Alex Smith, win a Super Bowl even.

We'd need a coach like a Gruden/Payton/Harbaugh/Carroll/Garrett/McCarthy type to get the most of Smith and our talented but underachieving offense.

I think Reid calls plays that fits within a very narrow spectrum of what he thinks Smith can handle.

He went downfield plenty in Philly. Yes, he has timeout and clock management issues, but he's a damn good coach.

Good QBs make the throws they are supposed to make. Great QBs make plays where no play looks possible.

Therein lies the problem....we have an average QB, not good....not great, just average.

So why isn't the offense scoring as much as we would like even after 4 years if Reid is trying to maximize Smith's strengths?

There are a lot of mediocre to bad franchises in the NFL that constantly turn over their management and/or lack the understanding of the importance of a franchise QB.

The chiefs seem to be a fairly stable organization that completely fails to value elite QB play and development and it's the primary reason they haven't done shit since Montana.

It has nothing to do with being rigged.

He is maximizing Smith's strenghts. Short quick screen passes is Smith's strengths. He then hopes, I'm sure, that the receiver makes a break.

When Smith gets the shakes, it's time to rely on the defense. Unfortunately smith gets the shakes too often. That is what makes him inconsistent.

Flacco provided explosive plays one after the other that year

There only so much refs can do and not be totally obvious about it, when the offense is dropping bombs

Jeeez dude, will you EVER allow yourself to be even mildly critical of our QB?

Dumbass. My post has nothing to do with Alex Smith. It was a joke based on the fact that it was the same three guys over and over except for Flacco. Why do I need to explain a children's song to you?

Dorsey and Reid believe in Smith. Kelce and Maclin believe in him. That's all you need to know
If only the NFL allowed teams to package draft picks for players or to move around in order of the draft, huh?

So you're saying Alex Smith can't even get close to what some knucklehead that got promoted to produce after stocking shelves did as an NFL QB?
