Spencer Ware can trigger a significant salary escalator against SD
I know it's all relative for these guys and the amount of coin they make, but an extra $600K is nothing to sneeze at, even at Ware's pay level. He's questionable, but my guess is he plays like he's got over a half million bucks on the line, not to mention possible home field and a 1st round bye.
"He has a career high 921 rushing yards this season, which has increased his 2017 base salary from $700,000 to $1.3 million. It will be $1.9 million if Ware can gain 79 yards on the ground against the Chargers in the season finale to reach 1,000 yards." http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ag...nings-of-2016/ |

No reason for him to play. Activate Kniles and rotate him with West

Do incentives like this count against overall salary cap?

You do wonder about business decisions affecting the game. I would hope that the team is classy enough to make any decisions for football reasons alone.

I'd just sit him and pay the escalator. He's busted his ass all year and taken a lot of pounding. He's dirt cheap as it is.
