WOW Jimi Hendrix Special

Blew me away!

Just saw on Show Time, a Hendrix special, 2 months before he died. It was a "festival" in south Atlanta, Byron. The last of the great festivals...hippies everywhere, naked, pot smoking 1970.

I did not realize that he could make a guitar talk so much!! It was his soul coming outta the thing. After watching/hearing, and I do have the "greatest" Jimi CD, I didn't know how good he was. Watching him play, and humble, made me realize my lack of appreciation to the man. He didn't do many interviews....not the day where 'snapchat", Facebook etc existed.

Have looked a bit at his history. He was in Vietnam, not sure what branch. He was left handed and that his hands were so big that he could do things with the guitar that no one else could. While watching, dude looked like he was playing a kids toy!!

I don't know how much he was paid for that festival? But watching him, he was all about the crowd...fed off them..amazing. I was moved.

In the end, was it better that he died so young or be a Paul McCartney?

Is there anyone else that can/could play better with his soul?

No reason to post this, after watching the special, was wondering 'bout other peoples thoughts about Jimi that I over looked for all these years.

For about 18 months I had a boss named Joe. He was management in the Maintenance department and he wasn't a "hands on" kind of boss. So for that entire 18 months whenever I saw him holding anything I'd sing, "Hey, Joe, where you going with that (object) in your hand?" I did this every single time that I ever saw him carrying anything. Regardless of the object. Regardless of the situation. Sometimes weeks would go by between times. But I always did it when it came up. Every. Single. Time. First it confused him. Then it annoyed him. After a while, it pissed him off. Then finally he accepted it and just tried to ignore it as best he could.

Hendrix was beyond special. While his playing was obviously phenomenal, his artistic genius is what makes him special to this day.

I'm very fortunate to have known several people that knew him and played with him and have picked people's brains until all hours of the night (and with Andy Johns, from about midnight to 8am one time).

It's such a damn shame he passed so young.

I don't know, man. I don't know if your Jimi Hendrix story is as good as mine.

I liked your story. And I think it actually happened. I don't get that feel with Dane's stories.

This is undoubtedly a true story from Dane right here.

cocksmoke2003 is like a bad fungus. I mean, Dane says he talked to Andy Johns (must've been fascinating conversation), not Hendrix his ****ing self.

Only cocksmoke could turn a Hendrix thread into "hey, pay attention to me!'
