Sadly, the roster next year is going to look very different as we have too many FA's and too little money.
On a side note, the Faiders have the ability to sign a TON of good free agents as they are at a measly $93 million in salaries against around $153 million cap, giving them a staggering $60 million in cap room. Somehow, they will probably screw it up! LOL

That said, Sean Smith very easily could. And frankly, I couldn't blame him for it. He doesn't have the ties to this area that those two do and this is his chance to get a HUGE payday. That's why I see this playing out with DJ/Berry signing and Smith getting the tag.

To me you keep Berry, DJ and Smith. They are the most important if you ask me. DJ and Berry are leaders and play tough. Smith is not just replaceable because of his size and ability to line up with big targets. I want Howard but he is looking for a massive contract.

Cut the following:
Ben Grubbs - June 1st cut Paul Fanaika Marcus Cooper Knile Davis Those 4 cuts nets us a cap gain of $6.25 million. Keep the following: S Eric Berry LB Derrick Johnson LB Tamba Hali S Tyvon Branch DE Mike DeVito G Jeff Allen LB Dezman Moses DeVito and Hali would get minimal deals to stay with the team. If they want big money....then they're gone. DJ gets a 2 year deal. Allen gets an incentive laden deal. If he stays healthy....he can earn the full contract. I'm keeping Branch over Abdullah because he's younger. Since we're not paying Howard or Smith....then go sign the following guys: Andre Smith, RT, Bengals Trumaine Johnson, CB, Rams Last edited by The Franchise; 01-19-2016 at 11:31 AM.. |

DJ, Hali and Berry have already said they are Chiefs for life yesterday.
Hali wants to see how his knee responds to time off after surgery and Dorsey needs to make a decision on Hali by the first week in March when his 3m in dead money kicks in. DJ and Berry aren't going anywhere until retirement. Even though Hali doesn't want to say it, I think he's contemplating retirement. |

I found this Free Agent tracker to be the best! Really great to use and can reorder all the columns and also filter by teams and position and cap hit.
I would edit the OP post and add this in http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/

We could sign Berry, Smith, Howard, DJ, Hali, Abdullah, Devito, Allen, all of our ERFAs, draft picks and still have 10m in cap space to bolster the roster if they structure the deals correctly.

Dudes a damn warrior and I'd love to see him stick around another year, but I just have a feeling that he's gonna make the decision to retire after his knee surgery. Ford better stay in the weight room this offseason. |

if Hali retires they are going to need to sign a veteran insurance policy guy to step in for Dee Ford when he gets hurt or shows he doesnt have the durability to handle a full game of defensive snaps.

I have a feeling we are going to release at least 2 players between Smith, Howard, Berry and Abdullah. If berry leaves, then we should be chasing after Weddle.
Somewhere in the middle of all of this mess we most definitely need to lock up a #2 receiver in free agency: Kearse, Sanu, Marvin Jones, Dontrelle Inman would fit in spectacularly |

they should go after Weddle regardless
we have 3 safeties that are FAs, Weddles versatility to play special teams and a swiss army knife safety makes him Suttons/Toubs wet dream |
