Mustaine is an excellent guitarist and song writer. He can't sing though. On some songs it works great like Peace Sells But Whose Buying. Others, it is certainly a liability.

I saw Megadeth with Slayer when both bands were celebrating the 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace and Seasons in the Abyss, respectively. The bands played those albums in their entirety and it was downright painful listening to Mustaine try to sing all the songs on Rust in Peace. The guitar work on all those songs still made them awesome live but the vocals were really bad.
