Chiefs Will the Chiefs re-sign Berry - Page 3

What is the consensus on whether or not the Chiefs get Eric Berry a new contract in the off season?

IMO, the guy is a future HOFer and it would be stupid for them to not re-sign him. But I know he's gonna command a big contract. Of course, he's already making something like 8-9 million this season.

It's time to retire my Tamba Hali jersey. I was thinking about getting a Berry jersey but I hate to buy a jersey and the player goes to another team. What say you, Chiefs Planet?

3 Pro Bowls in his first 4 seasons, if I recall correctly. He was injured and out for the year in 2011 so he had no chance. I think he's back up to that level of play and possibly even better now. What safeties in the NFL right now are better? If he keeps playing at this level he should be a HOF candidate.

We should try to re-sign him, but only if it's reasonable. The idea that he's a hall of famer is crazy at this point. He's a solid, above average safety who should be resigned if possible to a cap friendly deal.

I expect a contract very similar to if not a little larger than Devin McCourty's and I expect KC to pay it even if I think 9.5-10 mil/yr is a bit high for a safety.

I may be hopeful here, but I feel like the Chiefs earned some loyalty and goodwill with how they handled Eric's situation this past year.

You can tell that the team perceives itself as a family and I think that will help come contract time. He's received nothing but love from both the team and it's fans and he knows what he means to everyone.

Hopefully we can get him for around $5-6 mil/yr. Hopefully.

The Chiefs will almost certainly re-sign Berry. I put the likelihood at 95%.

He'll probably run us about $8-9m/per. Going rate for an elite safety that can do everything.

Keep Berry, Howard for sure. I'd love to Smith but im sure he'll want a brinks truck. Also want Abdullah and DJ back.

Berry, Howard and DJ are priorities. Would love to have Smith back as well. If they can't bring back Smith, then they'll need to adjust their scheme.
