Does anyone else have a Royals hangover now?

I have that feeling that you get as a kid on the day after Christmas. I looked forward to watching the games every night. The win was incredible. But now I'm just kind of in a sports "no man's land". The Chiefs already blew it, the Mavs are not going to be good, and I don't like hockey. Daylight savings time just ended so I get to go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.

Sigh.

I freely admit I'm massively spoiled. The number of championships Boston teams have compiled the last 14 years is ridiculous. And I have gained some perspective on it all. I'm still an ardent fan but I've definitely learned that whether any of those teams win championships or not doesn't put money in my bank account, or strengthen my relationship with my wife, or make me a better Dad.

But yeah, those memories don't really fade and should be cherished. You never know if/when you will ever get another championship.

I like your perspective. When I was a younger fella, sports seemed pretty life and death. Now, it's different. I celebrated Sunday night, ordered a bunch of championship gear, and am working a half day so I can watch the parade. Afterwards, life goes on. But, I do think it is huge for the city and the morale of people and will forever be a source of pride. Plus getting to see guys we have "known" since they were kids, win it all, is special. And you are 100% correct when you say this won't make me a better father. But it sure was fun buying Royals championship stuff with my sons!

Absolutely. I enjoyed the championship as much for my son that really likes football as for myself. He was born in '04 so he doesn't have any memory of the first championships BB/Brady won. This time he was almost 11 so he definitely knew what was going on.

Watching the rest of the NFL after the WS will be like chasing a nice 25yr old scotch with a Natty Light.

That is so True. That playoff loss to Indy a couple years ago, with that big of a lead in the 3rd qtr. Only a true choke artist team could blow that game.

The Chiefs and Royals are polar opposites in crunch time when their backs are against the wall. For the Royals someone always steps up make a play. For the Chiefs someone always steps up to choke the game away.

I'm just going to watch college football for another month or so to get my football fix. Then it's on to college basketball until it's baseball season again.

Can't remember a time in my life that I cared so little about the NFL in general. Thanks a whole lot to the Chuefs.

I'm still high as **** from winning the Series. It's not let up even a little bit. I keep watching clips, reading articles, rival boards, etc. I can't come down and it's a great ****ing problem to have. Maybe it's because I'm so old, and haven't had a team win a title since I was 13. I dunno, but I don't care either. It's sweet, and I can't get enough of it. I'm savoring every last ****ing drop of this feeling.

Great call Loochy, my wife, kids and I were just saying --- what are we supposed to do with our nights now? It's been an event every night for almost a month watching these guys. Comparison to Christmas is so true, feels just like that.
