Who is still on the Alex Smith bandwagon?

Since the Denver game many of the Smith apologists threw up the white flag and surrendered to reality. I was wondering how many brave souls are left circling the wagons in defense of Alex. Who still thinks Smith is good enough of a QB to lead a team to the Super Bowl? Sandy? Saccapoo? Marcellus? Bueller?

I'm just really tired of watching bad QB play. I mean it's been so ****ing long since I've seen quality consistent QB play (Trent Green), where you didn't have to hold your ****ing breath when you're watching them drop back to pass and the QB at least looked like he knew what he was doing and didn't look lost or scared. I know Green had one of the best Olines ever and had Priest Holmes and TG and that certainly is a part of his success, but he knew DV/AS offense like the back of his hand and he knew where the passing lanes were, and threw it where only his receivers could catch it. I mean he looked like a good QB, he passed the eye test. It's been almost a decade since we've seen good consistent QB play.

I mean just look at this list

Brodie Croyle
Damon Huard
Tyler Thigpen
Quinn Gray
Matt Cassel
Brady Quinn
Tyler Palko
Kyle Orton
Alex Smith
Chase Daniel

The only possible shred amount of hope for anyone on that list is Chase Daniel, if that tells you anything.

Any other fanbase would look at that list and shit their pants laughing...wondering if the Chiefs franchise really and honestly gives a damn about the most important position in football.

I still think Smith can get it done, he just needs more protection! Bring in a TE or two to give our shit OL some help!

Of course he has. It has been garbage time with no pressure.

There are only a handful of lines that are any good.

Alex Smith, however, makes O-Lines look worse than they are, and he always has.

He has taken a higher percentage of sacks than almost every other QB since he came into the league, regardless of who he has in front of him.

He can't read defenses, he has no pocket awareness, he reacts to phantom pressure, and is virtually useless as a passer the moment he starts moving.
Exactly. Whether the Alex Smith fanbois want to admit it or not...

A QB getting sacked a lot doesn't automatically mean his OL sucks. That's on the QB, too.

Do any of the advanced stat sites track % of sacks above average pocket time?

Like let's say the average of time in the pocket is like 2.8 seconds. Does anyone track how many sacks are before or after that mark to decide if it was the qbs fault or the lines?

If they do, I bet that's another stat that Alex Smith is on another planet on like the ALEX stat.

Huard had his moments. He got us to the playoffs.

This talk of needing perfection is hyperbolic slop.
Alex Smith thows hyperbolic slop.

still on and think he is absolutely one of the better players on this team.

I think its funny how you can turn this crap oline into a positive and blame Alex for their lack of anything close to decent protection either for the run or pass.

How come Charles isn't racking up the yards? Oh that's right, its on Alex somehow but but if Charles is a great back he doesn't need a decent oline or qb, right? See we can go round and round with you lack of logical thinking.

If its just about a great qb then Peyton would have won a ton more SB's. This wont even compute with the simple minded thought process on this board.

Keep on keeping on!

Jamaal has 32% of this offense's yards, and is responsible for 55% of our offensive TD's. He has as many TD's as the rest of the team combined, including Peters' defensive score.

Run blocking is a hell if a lot more difficult when everyone on the defense but your useless mother, (useless, because she didn't swallow the load that produced your dumb ass) is lining up in the box.

The reason everyone lines up in the box, Alex Smith.
