Preaseason Unit Discussions: Offensive Line

Per the discussions earlier this week, I wanted to offer an experimental concept. During the preseason, let's discuss each of the units on the Chiefs in a particular thread.

Post your thoughts during the games or between games about individual performances.

This thread is for offensive linemen. How they doin'?

MOST TEAMS deal with question marks on the offensive line EVERY ****ING SEASON.

The Chargers and Broncos, the two teams you could say will challenge us legitimately this year in the division, have just as many holes as we do on THEIR offensive lines.

You and many others are being downright ridiculous, as if anything but the 2003 Chiefs offensive line is a disaster all because you don't know how it will play.

I actually know the answer to that question. You ready for it? Here it goes.

THE 2015 CHIEFS OFFENSIVE LINE WILL BE INCONSISTENT. THEY WILL LOOK GOOD SOME GAMES AND BAD SOME OTHERS. THEY WILL HAVE PLAYS WHERE THEY DO AN OUTSTANDING JOB AND THEY WILL HAVE PLAYS WHERE THEY HAVE NO ****ING CLUE WHAT THEY'RE DOING TO THE HINDRANCE OF THE OFFENSIVE LINE.

Guess what I just described. Every single ****ing offensive line that has ever been in existence, including some of the great ones.

Calm the **** down.
Im very calm. I know what I saw this week and last. If u think what the Chiefs have now will ever become a solid OL, you're about as wrong as anyone's ever been in the history of the world. That's a lot of wrong.

Define solid.

I think when the Chiefs have both of their starting OTs (healthy), this is an adequate offensive line.

Some people might call that solid, while others define solid as being good. Like, top 10 good.

I don't care about having a top 10 offensive line. Never have. If we end up developing one, then ****ing great. If not, then they just need to avoid being 2014 bad.

We're right on track to do exactly that.

Wanna know why the line looked like a shit show? Because Reid wanted to test LDT (a test that LDT failed), Morse isn't ready (and I think we'll see that change happen in Week 3) and PAUL ****ING FANAIKA WAS OUR STARTING RT.

Christ almighty. You and a bunch of other reerunifs aren't seeing the forest for the ****ing trees.

Umm hello, are you not reading what you're typing or what? The coaching staff clearly isn't happy with Fulton, and we've seen first hand that Tardif and Morse aren't ready. There are nearly no cons to us bringing in Mathis at this point. Good teams bring in older vets as stop gaps all the time. It's no different than Green Bay bringing in Peppers, or New England bringing in Randy Moss when they did. Or the Seahawks trying the bring in Mathis right ****ing now. We gave our young guns a chance to show that they're ready, and they've shown us that they aren't ready. It's time to bring in another guy to let these guys develop.

You are a ****ing clown. A typical CP, band wagoning, Anti fatty. Newsflash, our interior line was so bad last year that we had to completely eliminate 7 step drops, and even still, we gave up more sacks than nearly any team in the league.... and things are looking just as bad.

When u have to ask someone to define what should be obvious, then you're way backwards on said topic. You're reaching to try and salvage your point of view. The players on this OL are showing us who and what they are, just like they did last year at this time. I suggest you believe them ...

You anti fatty Mathis guys feel the need to keep repeating his age.... How old was Moss when he and Brady set the league on fire?

Mathis is 1 year older than DJ and Devito, both of whom are coming off Achilles tears, and both of whom have looked amazing this preseason.

Mathis was THE BEST guard in the NFL in 2013 and his injuries last year aren't nearly as serious as DJ and Devitos.

I remember when the coaching staff wasn't happy with Stephenson. It must have been because he sucked! Otherwise why wouldn't he be starting the preseason game!

You're taking Reid's roster moves in preseason and acting like they hold a vein of truth to them. You should know better than that after 3 years of him as head coach of this team.

I'm also not opposed to Mathis like you're painting me out to be. I'm just saying that people are getting REAAAALLLY carried away by looking at the players Reid threw out there tonight and saying, "THAT'S IT WE'RE DOOOMED THIS OFFENSIVE LINE WILL LET IN THE MONGOLS TO RAPE OUR WIVES AND CHILDREN"

Again, I have a feeling this fanbase (TEX included) simply doesn't have a clue what the NFL is like these days. They don't know what an average team offensive line looks like or what struggles nearly all teams have at the position core every single freakin year.
