Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
I didn't see a thread for it, and it opens Friday.
I really enjoyed 4. I thought they did a nice job of retooling things to keep it entertaining with some good laughs and a pretty good plot that had very good set action pieces. Anyway, I just saw this. You'll see in the trailer a part where Cruise is holding onto the side of a plane taking off. You figure it is just a green screen effect done in post production. Nope. I'll hand it to Cruise on this one. It takes balls to hang onto the side of an airplane taking off as it climbs and is going 185+ mph. https://youtu.be/gOW_azQbOjw https://youtu.be/F-qBD17wwrQ http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/25/entert...ise/index.html

Idiots. A happy byproduct of this though probably was no rush to get another made by x release date, so some shitty script wasn't forced for them to make do with it. Like I said, the last one blew me away by comparison to my expectations were for what it would be. Is it Kubrick? No, but it's a well done international spy action movie movie that hits on all cylinders and really have some glaring weakness from 1st to last frame. If we are going to discuss spy characters, I am still waiting for someone to script a treatment and direct a film in the vein of North by Northwest. Not a remake. An homage to its distinct feel that is all its own within the realm of the genre.

Because he should have been Bond back in the 80's when he was 1st considered. His 1st wife died some time around then. Thus, we got Timothy Dalton.

You're right even now a still shot of him hanging over the floor is considered an iconic Hollywood shot.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
A city-wide, three-way manhunt could be a pretty tight deal, now that I think about it.
Hunt's got the tech and stealth capabilities but he generally works with a team. I'd knock him down a notch for that. Bourne is the most lethal, resourceful as all hell and basically a ghost. If entire world governments can't find him in their own backyards (and sometimes in their offices), I'm not sure one or two individuals could do so either. Give the guy access to equal resources and he basically becomes a reaper. Bond is probably the weakest link, although it pains me to say it. Craig's Bond is rash, brazen and entirely too headstrong. He'd likely rush into this with little to no foresight and get slaughtered quickly. Plus he's pretty unpolished as a fighter. He tends to receive as much as he gives when throwing down in fisticuffs. I'd probably say Bourne>>>Hunt>>>>>>>>Bond in a kill or be killed situation. |

Wick's 99.9999999999% headshot accuracy would render this scenario moot. Bourne, Hunt and Bond together might have a chance of taking down the boogeyman.

But Hunt gets his team in my scenario - that's where his tactical brilliance shines. If he doesn't get his team, then yeah, Bourne takes that one.

I haven't viewed Cruise's action flicks the same since I found out he's 5'7". Unless he's hiding Earl Campbell-sized thighs, he probably weighs no more than 155.
It's tough to watch him one-shot groups of 200 lbs trained killers. |

They had an option on Remington Steele. Brosnan had been chosen as the new Bond and was scheduled to be announced. The rumors had already picked up speed and because he was now 'Bond', Brosnan's name suddenly became hot. Remington Steele had been cancelled but the option hadn't expired yet and when Brosnan became a name about town, NBC picked up the Option and killed his ability to get out of the deal. Eon moved on when they didn't want to wait for the option period to expire. My recollection is that they didn't even end up bringing back the series (or maybe it was a movie deal). In either event, Brosnan got absolutely !@#$ed by the whole deal.

It's a movie. You are supposed to suspend your sense of disbelief when you start watching.

So he's or they're short. You're not trying to date the guy and worried his height limits your shoe options. Say goodbye to heels!
