Westport is trying to kill itself

http://www.tonyskansascity.com/2015/...ee-in.html?m=1

$5 just to enter Westport. What a stupid idea.

I was just thinking.....the people that are complaining about having to pay a $5 cover are the people that the businesses are trying to keep out.

Cheap bastards.

I gone with friends to a bar that each had 2-300 in their wallet, yet walk away because of a $5 cover. It's the sure way to pick out a cheap ****.

Why would you pay a $5 cover when you can go to PNL, 39th st or the plaza for free.

I think the point of view of some people is that its kind of off putting to have to spend money for the right to buy drinks.

But the people that want to go to P&L/Westport for the atmosphere are different than the ones just looking for a place to have a few and chat with friends.

I'm pretty sure P&L has a $10 cover after 9 or 10pm on weekends.

Westport is trying to keep the hood people from coming in and ruining the place, hence the 5 dollars.

Some people may feel it's ridiculous to pay a private entity money for the 'privilege' of walking on public ground.

"Cheap" has nothing to do with that.

You've got to pay a fee to camp or sometimes park in state recreational areas to help pay for upkeep. what's wrong with paying a fee to help pay for security/first responders to keep shit in order and make sure you don't get into trouble when you're blacked out?

Last time I was in westport for a late dinner there was some dude passed out on the curb being babysat by a couple cops.

As long as we get a drink ticket for the 5 I am fine with it. Hell that is cheap on some nights.. I wonder if I can pay multiple times the entry cover to obtain more drink tickets.

The money will be used to keep people out that are loitering and not going into establishments to spend money. And hell if you get there early enough you do not have to pay.

Wait.. The pointe is hood? Never seen a problem when I went there. Honestly the same mostly for pnl and westport.. Go early, leave around 1-130 and never really see problems.

But I understand why they are doing it.
