He's all they had, yet three appearances.

He never could will them there without Terrell Davis. They never would have had those teams for him to "will" to the SB without the donkos cheating in the first place.
IMO he didn't "will" anything or he could have or would have done it without the donkos cheating, which he never did.

You're full of shit. What else is new?

The Broncos didn't "cheat" in the 80's, when Elway steered them to three Super Bowls.

Some of you people are absolutely incapable of rational thought.

Sorry dude I didn't see the 80's. I was thinking of the 90s when they actually won a SB.

Nice to see your attitude is still shit. You are always a prick to everyone. Good luck with that.

Don't kid yourself. Rodgers had the #2 scoring defense the year he won it all. They haven't been anywhere close since, and they haven't been back to the Super Bowl since.

Roethlisberger's three Super Bowl teams were ranked 3rd, 1st & 1st defensively. The two best recent examples of a poor defense were winning the 06 Colts, who flipped a switch and played great defense in the playoffs, allowing 16.3 ppg and forcing 13 TO in four games. And, the 09 Saints with Brees... who weren't highly rated, but were 2nd in forcing turnovers. They allowed about 19 ppg with 8 TO in 3 games while winning the Super Bowl.

Defense still wins championships. Well when the offense isn't cheating anyway.

I'd agree though, I think Elway is one of the few, if not the only QB, to drag a team to the Super Bowl. And even he didn't win. It's the biggest myth on this board that QB is the only thing that matters. Most of these teams have great QBs who make the big plays when when they matter, and they deserve all the glory. But they aren't forced to try and overcome 30-40 point defensive performances like the Chiefs are prone to do.

Or in Trent Green's case, win a game where the defense does not force a punt. They could've played 16 quarters that day and Manning would still be marching up and down the field. Hard to top that.

Nope, not at all.

Elway, IMO, is the greatest NFL QB of all time. As great as Marino, Montana, Unitas and others were, Elway had everything. A rocket arm, excellent accuracy and unbelievable escapability in the 80's.

If Elway had been the 49er's QB in the 80's and 90's, they'd have won 8 Super Bowls, maybe more.

"Cheating" didn't become a serious issue until the NFL signed a $9 Billion dollar TV contract.

And that's why I just don't give a rip about the "the Chiefs have $60 million in cap space in 2 seasons" noise - EVERYONE DOES. The Chiefs are still in the bottom 1/3 of available cap space next year and that's with no rollover money. They'll absolutely be up against the cap next year as well.

It's just basic market pressures at work. Houston's going to cost a ton and ultimately if the Chiefs want to retain guys like that long-term, they'll need to adopt a new QB model.
That's why we drafted 2 CB's. We can't afford to pay Sean Smith, Houston and Poe big money all in the next 3 years.

Especially if you wanna keep your home grown talent. Jaye Howard, one of Jeff Allen/Donald Stephenson (I think 1 of them will play well this year), DJ, Eric Berry.
Then you have Kelce and Davis entering contract years in 2016.

Use the money to keep our own like successful franchises like GB.
