You say 'how dare the government say who you can love and marry?' Well people can love and marry who they want [unless you have examples of the government telling people 'stop loving that person or go to jail'], only the government will only legally recognize and give benefits to certain arrangements. And the gay marriage thing is the government SAYING 'cool, we like this particular arrangement.'

"How dare they do that? I demand they do more of it!!!"

And no matter what you think is going on, gay marriage is separate from whether sexual orientation/identification/leaning/spectrum is a protected class. And the latter is going to be a much thornier separate debate.
