Our Very Own Micjones Mock Draft

Kinda hurting for football material these days it seems, so heres a longtime Planeteers take for everyone to nitpick.

Sorry no text, rep to the one that fixes that...

That was my biggest mistake of the whole thing, probably should've taken a center in the 6th or 7th... but outside of center, nope.

Allen and Stephenson are playing for their professional futures this year... one of them will step up at RT, and at gaurd we have Fanaika to push Fulton and Doc.

Its high time Heck started earning his money with what he has.

Just dont see an O lineman making the big difference this year, what I want this year on the line is depth.

Its another one of those situations where I'm expecting growth from whats already here.

Fishers first full season at LT followed by his first ever normal offseason schedule.

Grubbs is expected to approximate his pro bowl form.

Kush has had two years and a smattering of big game experience to get ready... some decent dude will be a camp cut we can pick up for depth this year

Fulton played 16 games as a rookie and came on toward the end, Doc had some of the best combine stats ever and Fanaika/Henry/whoever is right there behind them hoping to push them aside.

Allen and Stephenson, Harris/Sherod, are all aiming for that RT spot... so theres also some competition going on there as well.

Its time some of these fat boys stepped up to the beat box so we dont have to use a pick there this year.

Many of my favorites were gone, but I made the best of it...

RD 1: WR Jaelen Strong - everyone I covet was gone, but I managed to pick up some good physicality and size to compliment Maclin. He has strong hands, good at the high point, knows how to escape the jam. Is also a willing blocker, think of him as a new Bowe IMO.

RD 2: ILB Stephone Anthony - prototype size at 6'3 245, aggressive against the run, can make plays as a blitzer. Lacks elite instincts but the tools are there.

RD 3: CB Josh Shaw - yes, the guy that jumped off the balcony in some weird incident. But at 6'0 200 he has the size this system needs, is a little stiff in the hips but is a nice tweener type.

RD 3: WR Chris Conley - Another prospect with great size but somewhat average speed, but he makes the contested catch and adds more physicality to the corp... Maclin/Wilson bring the speed, Strong and this cat bring the beef.

RD 4: TE Blake Bell - We already have the receiving finesse of Kelce and Harris, what this corp needs is a bigass blocking hoss and at 6'6 265 this guy fills the bill. A powerful runner with the ball in his hands, he wont strecth the seam but we already have those guys... this dude will immediately improve the run game with his blocking.

RD 5: DT Xavier Williams - A squat 6'2 325, this guy will be hard to move, wont be much of a rush threat but plays the run with good power and leverage.

RD 6: ILB Jeff Luc - We dont just have to replace Mauga, DJ isnt getting any younge. At 265 pounds this guy is a tank that actually has the hips to turn and run as well being able to break down in space.

RD 6: S Tra'Mayne Bondurant - Undersized but moves well in man coverage and will stick his nose in against the run, good fourth safety if Commings craps out again.

RD 7: CB Damian Swann - pickings were laughably slim here, decent quickness, potential special teamer.

So thats it, that was actually a lot of fun... ****ing corners and receivers went FAST.

Still need center depth but thats what camp cuts are for.
Their rankings are kind of messed up....but here's my version.

1. Alvin Dupree, OLB/DE, Kentucky
2. Kevin Johnson, CB, Vanderbilt
3. Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami
3. Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart
4. Donovan Smith, OT, Penn State
5. Taiwan Jones, ILB, Michigan State
5. Ladarius Gunter, CB/S, Miami
6. Wes Saxton, TE, South Alabama
6. Ellis McCarthy, DT/DE, UCLA
7. Max Garcia, OC, Florida

Yeah, I just can't see this as being remotely realistic

1. Devante Parker
2. Cam Erving
3. Denzel Perryman
3b. Jesse James
4. Doran Grant
5. Adrian Amos
5b. Joey Mbu
6. Max Valles
6b. Craig Magar
7. Kyle Loomis

I mean c'mon - the odds of Parker, Erving or Perryman being available at those spots is slim. Hell, I'd be shocked if James is there, let alone all 4.

Truthfully, after those first 4 picks, I think Dorsey would be entitled to just mic-drop that bitch and go home.

You went defense and offensive line pretty hard, but I like the unexpected mix... we could easily see an unexpected draft like this.

Dupree is an explosive athlete at 6'4 260, elite closing speed and quickness, has the raw strength to set the edge vs the run... me likey.

Johnson was a guy I was hoping would be there, my draft guide made him sound very similar to Gaines... effective in press or off man, very aggressive and draws a ton of flags for it, I like aggressive, thats what coaching is for.

Dorsett is a someone I had a shot at but couldnt get past his size at 5'9 when we already have Wilson and Thomas, just dont want a 90's Oilers "smurf" squad out there. Killer speed but he rounds off his cuts and drops too many balls designed for him.

Marpet - small school star with quick feet and good length, all the raw tools... solid get here.

Taiwan - Brings the wood, great closing speed... downside is somewhat stiff and one dimensional.

Smith - prototype RT size at 6'6 340, agile and quick in pass pro, competitive run blocker... another solid lineman.

Gunter - super interesting guy, wish he would've been there for me... doesnt let receivers escape the line, ideal length and physical... has limitations but is worth a coaching staff having a look to see if they can fix him.

Saxton... ahhh, you know the riddle of the steel do you boy? lol... you just took another Kelce. Let the linemen block and the tight ends go make highlights you say.

Anyway, yeah... thats a damned interesting group, if I had to pick two that super intrigue me its Saxton and DuPree

Pass rusher two years in a row?

I mean, I wouldn't be mad but I'm wondering if our 1st rounder wouldn't be better spent on a player that has a chance to see significant playing time this season.

If Houston holds out until Week 10....they would be. Plus Hali is here for this year and that's it.
