He was definitely an excellent villain, maybe the best up to this point, even said so in the thread about Skyfall... but just thinking of Waltz in Inglorious Basterds makes me think he has a chance to trump them all.

He was so quirky, yet demented; a truly odd twist on the approach. I agree, he could really upstage any of the villains, if done right.
