HBO's New Streaming Service Will Launch Exclusively On Apple Devices

If you want to watch HBO Now, HBO's long-awaited standalone streaming service, you're going to need an Apple device.

HBO and Apple said that Apple will be the exclusive launch partner for HBO Now, HBO's CEO Richard Plepler said at Apple's event on Monday. This will be the first time that HBO will be available without a cable or satellite subscription.

"All you need to get HBO Now is a broadband connection and an Apple device," Richard Plepler, HBO's CEO, said on stage at the San Francisco event.

The service will cost $14.99 per month when it launches next month. Apple TV will have a new channel for HBO Now once it launches.

Apple also said that it's lowering the price of Apple TV from $99 to $69.

“HBO Now is the next phase of innovation at HBO,” Plepler said in a statement. “With this new partnership, a natural evolution for the network, we have access to millions of Apple customers who are used to getting their favorite apps immediately. Now, they can do the same with an HBO subscription.”

I'm a cord cutter as of this year, but i'd like to have seen it priced under $10 a mo. HBO GO doesn't have the content that Netflix/Hulu has imo, and you're paying the same price you'd pay the cable company, but getting less.

Get amazon Prime they have almost all the HBO shows outside of a few and you get much more choices and free 2 day shipping for a year lol

I get that, but it's unknown yet if it will actually be less content?

HBO has like 10 channels but they recycle and rotate the content around to all of them.

The difference is Amazon has the HBO stuff that's 2-3 years old

HBO Go will have the back catalog stuff and the new stuff as well.

As a cord cutter, I'll pay the $15....last piece for me to go along with OTA, Sling TV, Netflix, and Hulu.

Still all relatively cheap.

yeah, thats cheap, but live sports is the deal breaker for me, if id idnt care about sports, i wouldnt even have cable period lol

With OTA and Sling TV I have a lot of that covered...MLB will be an issue. I can get Direct Ticket on PS4....
