*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*
I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149
Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition! No one else started it so here it is! **From the 2013 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

There's no need to do this unless you're prepping for a race or something, or have a specific dietary approach that calls for it, like Ultimate Diet. |

That's very kind of you - your tastes may change after 40 - mine definitely have and did. Ha... But yeah, I never liked them - but I love that variety - just would love to have corn bread with them - but I can't allow that much.

One other food question then I'm booging out - but yeah - what are you all doing with eggs these days? I guess I'll make a crustless quiche tomorrow again - any other creative ideas? - I do like eggs - I just think they're fairly boring.

I scramble my eggs with bacon fat and salsa. Finish with chives.

Three of those ingredients are extremely healthy. A tablespoon of bacon fat in no way makes me a disgusting fatbody. Please step off.

Usually I'll go heavy mushrooms in the quiche. I can make it really freaking good - I need to get some new spices at the farmers market - hell even their seasoned salt is awesome in bulk - i'm entirely out right now. Their dry spices are not only awesome tasting - they're cheap too.

Beans and greens are the way to go. Loom up Mark Bittman's techniques. Suggests ideal been/green pairings as well.
As for eggs: all poached all the time. I have high cholesterol developing (Doc said my genetic clock has kicked in and diet may not help) so I may have to lay off the egg yolks even though that's my favorite part.

May I make a suggestion? Try using a little coconut oil for them - pepper them well of course - but you only need a very little bit - and it works well for manageability alone, ease of cooking - you can't taste it either - I think coconut oil is supposed to be pretty decent for you.
