Revisionist GM: would you have drafted Manual or Geno instead of trading for Smith?

All this 'hate on Alex' talk lately.

Well, what would you have done that would have made us better? Be honest

Mark Sanchez hasn't changed that much. He turned the ball over 14 times in half a season. That's never going to cut it. Everything else is irrelevant. You cannot have a QB turning it over 25-30 times a season.

That's a stupid article.

Nick Foles had 13 turnovers, Sanchez had 14.

The Eagles also averaged fewer PPG with Foles.

The Eagles gave up 53 points to the Packers and 38 to Dallas and that is why they missed the playoffs.

That's not including 7 fumbles in 8 starts. He only lost three of them, so it could've been worse. He certainly could continue to put up points given the nature of Chip Kelly's offense... but those turnover numbers will come back to get you. You can't say those are great numbers.

So the QBs having 27 turnovers had nothing to do with them missing the playoffs?

And Sanchez may be better than Foles, who knows. I do know that neither of them would have fared any better in KC this year than Smith, and I can only imagine what our record would have been this year with 27 QB turnovers

Those numbers are terrible. It doesn't matter who the QB is. If the QB position turns the ball over 25-30 times, that is awful and you aren't going to win anything. That is not high quality QB play.

When you run more plays you have more turnovers.

JFC man

And, defenses wear down making QB play even easier

This is CP, though. Alex sucks, Sanchez is good. Yep. This is the quality of football talk in 2015 on CP

Good going, Clay.

This is actually a very interesting debate regarding plays/turnovers.

The Eagles led the NFL in plays and had a poor turnover ratio.

But almost every team that ran a lot of plays had a poor turnover ratio.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorysta...CRIMMAGE_PLAYS

The exception: teams led by Brady and Manning.

The Chiefs were 29th in plays run, BTW. And had a negative turnover ratio. I bet if they ran more plays Alex would turn the ball over more, too!

No offense man, but you have always been terrible at using statistics to make an argument. It's like you don't have any context, you just pick some random stat to fit your argument and then thrash about. Alex Smith had 7 turnovers this year. That's fine. That's the one thing he does really well. The reason we had a negative TO differential was the inefficiency of our ball carriers, and the fact the defense dropped numerous INTs. This isn't even a legitimate argument worth wasting time on.

Are you telling me Alex Smith would only have 7 INT in Philadelphia?

I bet he'd be a ****ing turnover machine on a team with a bad defense.

For a historical purpose can you see how the Rams under Warner and the Greatest Show on Turf did turnover wise?

He may have more than 7, but I don't think it would be that outrageous.

Nick Foles turned the ball over 4 times last year. He was playing the exact same offense. I don't think Chip Kelly is Martz... I don't think he expects his QBs to turn it over 30 times. I could be wrong, I don't read his press clippings every week. But it is possible to run that offense without turning it over 25-30 times.

Mark Sanchez turned it over 26 times each of his last two seasons in NY. He was on pace to do the same this year. He hasn't changed that much. This is likely who he is.

Ha.

What were the Chiefs bad at this year? Stopping the running game. You know what happens in games like that? They don't get as many offensive drives since our defense is so bend and break and teams (like Seattle) will dominate games against us on the ground. We had like 6 drives the entire game against Seattle.

We are also a running team.

So we're a team that runs the ball, often has efficient scoring drives, and shortens the game. Our defense is also a bend, don't break defense that struggles against the run, so the opposition generally attacked us via the run, also shortening the game.

So, the Chiefs end up having less plays than every team but 3 ...

GoChiefs doesn't understand the correlation.

GoChiefs doesn't understand that 27 QB turnovers is a terrible, terrible statistic.

I honestly wonder how many games we would have won with Mark Sanchez at QB this year?

Sanchez was turning the ball over 26 times on the Jets when Rex Ryan wanted nothing to do with him losing games for him ... he was turning the ball over THAT many times in a running offense that tried to Herm their way to winning games.

Yet, we have guys PINING for Mark Sanchez.

I mean...

It can't get any more stupid.

I mean, shit. It's not like Sanchez hasn't won a bunch of games the Alex Smith way: riding a running game and defense to the playoffs.

Should we compare playoff records? This can get embarrassing for Alex.
