In this offense a #1 WR doesn't have to be "all that". Other than TO who were the #1 WR in Philly during Reids tenure?
Jason Avant, Freddie Mitchell

This place will explode into chaos when Alex gets his base converted to SB... locking him into KC all the longer.
I think the Chiefs need to focus on dumping Bowe and his 14 mil cap hit. Heck, I'd dump Avery and his 4.05 hit also. Keep Albert Wilson as is or maybe let Jenkins battle with Wilson and Hammond... see how that goes.. retain Hammond since he's a decent #4/5 cheap ERFA, and PR.. Then start to identify rookie WRs that have a very strong work ethic. Word is, Jaelen Strong has great work ethic, and he will really attack the football at its highest point.. something KC currently lacks at WR. Then, go after a vet wideout like Maclin or Torrey Smith. Then, draft yet another WR in the mid-rds.. because THEY NEED TOO!!! lol WR 1.Jaelen Strong 2.Torrey Smith 3.Albert Wilson 4.Nelson Agholor 5.Frankie Hammond Jr maybe Jenkins beats Wilson or Hammond out, but I doubt it Still far from the greatest WR corps, but there's a lot of juicy potential there.. it's cheap.. and if these guys put in the offseason work that you know Alex will push for? They can be more formidable than the 2014 bunch. I'd like to see KC acquire Alex Boone, if SF has lost interest in him. Boone can play at every damn spot, minus C.. and would instantly be the team's 2nd best OL. He really should be out at OT instead of RG. He may want more $$$ than the Chiefs can spare though. I have never in all my years witnessed a worse pass pro OL than KC's. They have to upgrade at LG, RT, get Hudson re-signed... and pray that Fisher can pull his head out his ass.

My point was that paying him any contract in the top 3 in value is not really a discount. It is still going to be a big number that will affect your cap situation at some point.

chicken or the egg.
You will never see this QB throw deep until you pass protect and give him a deep target worth chancing it up to.

Not sure if the bolded was specific to something I posted? but the rest, easily agree. It won't take some miracle to upgrade the filth KC currently fields at LG, RT, WR, or ILB.

Except we LOST to 2 teams that are not members of said "brutal" schedule. You're right that just having an average O-L would be a huge upgrade - BUT I'd much rather have a stellar O-line because our QB and WR's are NOT the types to win games on their own. They NEED EVERYTHING to be going well - then they can deliver. IF you go with Smith, and the Chiefs are - then you MUST provide him HELP.

Alex Smith can and should definitely improve... but as per usual, he is low on the list of KC's ailments.

But the Chiefs are going with him so they need to surround him with better talent. He's the type of QB that needs things to be going well around him for him to be successful. He's not the type who will elevate everyone's game.
