I need some legal advise

We've been renting our house for about a year and a half. About 6 months ago we started having septic problems due to a large tree close to the drainfield. On Thursday we started laundry before we left for dinner and when we came back, the master bath and the living room were flooded. We called the property manager to have the tank pumped again to get some temporary relief. She called me back and informed me that the slum lord told her that he's sick of our shit and won't fix the drain field and won't be renewing our lease.

My question is, do I have any chance of getting him to pay for our moving expenses since the house is unsafe to live in and we're in the middle of our lease? Thanks in advance

Amazing advise!

Maybe he's just a really really literal landlord. And he's sick of all the shit coming out of fla's ass, into the toilet, down the drain, then floating around the basement.

May depend on the wording in your lease but normally this is the property owner's responsibility. Could try calling the Legal Aid Society.

Oh, and it's never really a good idea to run appliances that use water when you're not going to be home.

Ok well then, I don't think that's unreasonable - Sounds like someone can't manage their responsibilities, I have always been of the school of thought that it's better to tuck and run versus challenging the play. I like to 'move on' - I do it a lot in my own company and it's always been my belief. So in my case, if this were me, I'd ghost out ASAP and sign with someone who's going to take care of things like this - as they arise.

Dude sounds like someone that was handed the property w/o any experience of maintenance - that or he's just downright irresponsible...

Just move on bro, is my thing.

some of these landlords get 'hand me downs' and they're sometimes people who have no business running shit. They're irresponsible, often alcoholics or drug abusers - or even maybe womanizers - you know the type. Lot's of money - lot's of bs'ing people up their rectums, yet when it's time for a skill hoedown - they've got nothing to show. When these types run out of money - they're found dead or locked up, generally.

I've grown up with a couple. One is dead.

#1. Document everything. Put your requests in writing and keep record of all responses from the landlord.

#2. Check into renter's rights in your state. Often, if the landlord fails to fix something that is their responsibility, the renter has the right to fix the problem and deduct the expense from their rent.

The property manager said he's pulled the same shit at other properties and that he's known about our problem for years. So basically he takes our money and when his tenants have legitimate complaints that would cost him, he sends them packing and rents to another unsuspecting tennant. if you look in the dictionary under slumlord, this asshole's picture is there

If the cost to fix exceeds the cost of the remaining lease, then you need to speak to a lawyer. You probably have the right to break your lease; you may or may not be able to collect any money.
