Welp, back on the hate wagon

Who's with me?

**** this franchise in the ****ing neck.

I hate Alex Smith, Eric Fisher, our entire secondary, our dickhole coaching staff, Dee Ford for not being a player who could actually help us, and ESPECIALLY McGlynn.

Matt Cassel led the Chiefs to a 7 and 9 record in 2011 with Jackie Battle as his running back and nothing but Dwayne Bowe and Leonard Pope to throw to.

Oh, and he also staged a 17 point comeback that is tied for second greatest in Chiefs history on the road.

What about safety when Berry is released or traded? Or Hali? you're telling me Kansas City will have the cap money to sign Randall Cobb to replace Bowe and still have the money to get another WR, and replace one to two starters on the offensive line?

Not happening mate.

Good for Cassel? What do you want me to say? Cassel won a division with the chiefs.

Clearly Cassel>Smith

While I agree that alex Smith doesn't make the chiefs elite the team or more importantly the roster is a work in progress.

They are building for the long term. Andy clearly is not resting on the qb position. Drafted Murray, brought in bray year one.

Shrugs. When exactly could dorsey or Reid have gotten a qb considerably better than alex Smith?

Or they could use the 11 draft picks to keep building the roster?

Berry can likely stay on with his final year.. or if they choose to extend him, his first year would likely be less than the 8 mil cap hit it otherwise is.

Hali likely will have to depart.

There are many variables to consider.. but there's absolutely no good reason to think that the Chiefs are years away from playoff contention. They could very well end up in the playoffs this season.

KC could cut Bowe loose... draft back to back WRs in the draft... and still instantly have better WR corps. With rookie contracts being low cost, I'd like to see if there's a way to keep Bowe.. cut Avery's ass.. draft a rd 1 WR.

Lots of things they can do. It wouldn't be difficult to upgrade the LG and WR spots. They do that, and get more synchronized in the offseason? Playoffs.

Discuss has a point, actually.

Next year we could potentially be without Hali and Berry. DJ is a huge question mark given his age and that injury.

Every year we're creating more holes than we're able to fill. It worked out this year with guys clearly playing above their heads but at some point it'll likely catch up to us.

It took the Seahawks four drafts were every other pick turned out to be a solid contributor to their 2013 SB run.

Assuming every pick Dorsey made (that hasn't been released already) turns out to be above average NFL talent in the first or second strings, you are STILL looking at 2017 as being the first year when things start coming together.

And that's a titanic assumption.

Every team has to deal with this.

As long as KC retains Houston, they will generate a pass rush. There should be some level of optimism for Dee Ford next season.

3 large areas of concern.. again.. is WR, LG, and ILB. Need to retain Hudson also. These things can be dealt with in one offseason. KC will continue to be a 9+ win team that has a shot at the Lombardi. That's all anyone can really ask for.

Discuss, you realize Cassel didn't win 7 games in 2011? That's factually incorrect.

And while they will probably lose berry and dj, it's starting to look more and more like that talent was always overrated here

I'm just saying that doesn't quite match the "we're just a LG and WR2 from being over the hump" argument. Every year we'll be saying the same thing about some other positions. No team is ever without its holes.

Depth.

Just keep building and developing depth and let the rest take care of itself.

There are always going to be holes on a roster

That's exactly what I'm saying.

And to further that argument, it's laughable that anyone would think we're just a LG and WR2 away from being legit contenders. Is there any position less important than LG, honestly? WR2 is really a luxury. Especially when you've got a serviceable WR1, rising star TE, and elite RB like we do.

"Just sneak into the playoffs where anyone can make some noise."

.....

This is exactly what the Chiefs have been doing for TWO AND A HALF ****ING DECADES.

Of course, you don't know that because you didn't have a clue that Kansas City had a football team until every fourth year when the 49ers had to play the AFC West but whatever.

Building a team to mask the deficiencies of the quarterback doesn't work. End of story.

It doesn't work because of the amount of resources it takes to execute a plan correctly.

You keep harping about the need for a better left guard and second receiver on offense which requires a significant investment be it in a high draft pick or FA signing if you're talking a season to season improvement.

Ponder that for a moment.

Where is the sense in paying a free agent anywhere from 50 to 75% of the value of a LT salary to play LEFT GUARD?

How good has Atlanta been with Julio Jones and Roddy White at WR?

.. and there it is. Every team will have a few or more unproven, questionable positions on the roster to deal with. This really just comes down to what kind of person you are.. (positive/negative) and whether you believe in what Dorsey is building.

I'm just saying, KC fans would not be wrong to expect winning seasons and a playoff shot each year with this current regime. That's quite a different outlook, compared to the pre-2013 expectations, I would think.

Those two would help for sure.

It's funny to see the reactions around here after the Raider game though.
