I used to post here quite regularly. I'm just not on a computer like I used to be which makes it hard to post. I've even met a few of you back in 2004 or so at a bar in KC and tailgating at a game. I hung out with Brian (endelt) a few times when I lived in AZ.

I now live in Portland, OR and since moving here my life has changed quite a bit. I've done more than my fair share to help "Keep Portland Weird"

I've debated doing this for about a year now. On one hand it's really none of your business but on the other hand I feel like I need to say something.

Hello, ChiefsPlanet, I'm Meghan and I'm a trans-woman.

I'll be in KC in December and I'll be attending the Chiefs/Raiders game with my cousin and his friends.

We have some groups of people who say they want fairness, equality and to just be treated normal. but they go around announcing how different they are. That applies to the jokes, that applies to making it public versus private and it goes back to earlier in the thread when the OP said that trans-woman was the preferred reference. If you are for normalcy would not just woman be the preferred choice?

If you what you truly desire is to be treated and accepted as normal, then act normal and quit calling attention to what makes you different from most.

Many of us do. But I pointed that specifically because it has long been an argument in these issues. And, with out completely rehashing my previous post, it is a complete contradiction to what actually takes place when going public.

To be fair, this is one of the first instances I've seen where the subject of identity ambiguity requested that 'trans' be included in her identity.

Most request use of preferred gender, ie just a simple 'he' or 'she' to reflect current identity. Some have requested the more formal 'transitional' modifier, but it always seemed to be connoting that the transition was contemporaneously occurring, as opposed to a fundamental and permanent part of their identity.

I can't imagine pretending to be a female or gay just to pass as "normal" in society. People have been in the closet way too long. It's time for them to come out and just be who they are and accepted as the "normal" that it really is.

Well, at least not here. As I sift through faint memories of the old Star board, it does seem as though real names were displayed along side user names. So, ok, I'll quite trying to be technical as I'm obviously failing and just agree.
