I have a fear it is coming. We already have race cars with brake lights now.

not really...it was 3 points per position, so each position was the same value. They changed it to one point per position shortly after the chase to simplify the point system. Problem is I disagree that passing position 12 for position 11 should garner the same amount points as if one were passing 3rd for 2nd place.

Yes, it was pretty much the scoring system of old. Each driver awarded an amount of points based upon finishing position. 1-6 gradual reduction of 5 points, 7-11 4 points off each position, 12-43 3 points off. 5 point bonus for anyone who led a lap and another 5 point bonus if you led the most laps. Later years they increased the winners points awarded to 180, and then later to 185.

Nascar already addressed aggressive driving last week. Brian France has publicly said he doesn't have a problem with the aggressive driving going on.
Fair enough, but I find it funny that you're either worshiping a dead man, or are so far in the past that none of the current drivers win your favor.

I go back to the days of Rudd and company, so I'm not as old as some, but older than most.

Just make sure you keep your girlie mouth shut next time one of the HMS guys, especially Jeff, puts anybody in the wall.

As for France, I recommend he follow the advice I just gave you and make sure he keeps his ****ing mouth shut as this style of driving get more prevalent. HMS will do fine because they have the cash to spend through this era, many of the other teams (and their sponsors) might find replacing their cars every week is a bit spendy for their credit card... So I'm all for it at this point, especially if it allows me to tell folks to shut up as they prove themselves to be hypocrites...

Just remember, stay quiet and remind us that you like this form of racing when the rich kids start pulling the same thing and bouncing the smaller teams off the walls.

Stock car racing fans simply don't care how many championships a driver has. They know it truly is better to be lucky than good. There are so many things that can happen throughout the course of a season that can bring a team out of the points it isn't even funny. Do you really think Mark Martin and his legacy will be tarnished by him not winning a championship? Tell me, why does Dale Earnhardt have 7 championships instead of 6? Did he ever benefit ever from someone's misfortune?

Here is a good example of every move you crybabies are whining about. Ten lap shootout for the 1987 Winston.

the Winston known as the all star race and non points. Ironically you bring up a race that your driver Bill Elliott was enraged after. He was crying as you call it over Dale not racing him clean For a self proclaimed 35 year expert you sure seem confused. I like aggressive racing and have no issue with the old bumper horn when someone is blocking. I have no issue with holding your ground and trading paint. I do not agree with wrecking someone on purpose to win~

On a side note the next time you tell me something I don't know about this sport will be the first time Skippy. Your unwarranted arrogance is laughable~

Ex-****ing-Zactly! I moved to (back) Va. Beach in 1976, lived there until 1983 (and retunred a few times!), and in that period I considered myself to be pretty close to the epicenter of NASCAR. Add to it my Bro-inlaw used to build motors for Ricky Rudd (why I'm a little partial to THAT ONE Ford driver!!), so I may not know it all, but I've been around it for while.

None of that makes me right about anything, but of somebody wants to compare the size of their NASCAR dick to anybody else, that's what I've got.

As for rough driving, as long as they're all doing it, but it's not wrecking people on purpose (EXACTLY what we've seen in the last two weeks!), it's driving rough and it's fun if everybody's doing it right.

It's the real difference between things like F1 and NASCAR, I love both, but it's something that having a body around you allows, and that's cool..

I live in North Carolina which is the epicenter. I grew up in the Midwest. I don't know it all however I have a working knowledge of the sport. When someone starts swelling up not even knowing as much as I do I will have some fun with them~

NC is a great place for NASCAR, especially if you're in/around Charlotte.

I used to spend endless amounts of time stealing away to the the OBX to surf, then my brother (LOL, a LONG time ago), opened the first Safeway in Kill Devil Hills, lived in Manteo, then in Colington, and finally more west in NC in Forest City. But most of the family lives in and around the Winston Salem area, so I've sent a way-long time in NC, but they're still my rival because I sorta hail from Virginia!

I live eastern Carolina. It is a very reasonable drive to several race shops or the hall of fame for that matter. For what's it worth I had a grand uncle who was a member of the Virginia sharp shooters who was with the group who had the failed attempt to kill Lincoln. He was rounded up and taken to the Elmira death camp where he died. It should be noted I had several relatives who fought on both sides. As far as the attempt on Lincoln the shooter was never identified so it is indeed possible it was him~
