Long Suffering Royals Fans

For ten years I had a personal website georgeblowfish.com. I had a page on the Chiefs, and that's how the CP found me and invited me to come hang out here. I also blogged the Royals on a Daily Basis from around 1998 to 2009.

I closed my website and my online radio station (Radblow) because they were too much work with my job.

Today I was looking for a picture of my old pal Gary when we were young at Royals Stadium. Haven't found that one, but I did find a picture of me with Dorsey the Right Field Beer man from 1985.

I have lots of pictures from my website as I blogged the Royals. Many of them documented the Royals soul crushing futility of those dark days. In fact, in 2007, I made a little video. It's posted below. Thank goodness we can exorcise those days for good! Enjoy how far we've come from then:

That's a picture of KC vs. Cleveland in September back in the early 1990s at the mistake by the lake (I think). Game was either a blowout, or many extra innnings. Can't remember which.

George, try living in Mid-MO with the Royals futility.

I get abused walking around in public wearing a Royals shirt. I routinely have strangers(Cardinal fans) drive by me who will stop & say "The Royals Suck!" I've been at gas stations filling up & strangers(Cardinal fans) who will go out of their way to tell me how embarrassed I must be to be wearing that pos shirt. How bad a fan I am & must not know anything about baseball & how the Royals are a minor league team. They then will proceed to expound on the virtues of being the greatest fan on earth & how St Louis is superior in every way to KC. People often times ask me why I don't root for the Cards...I say that's an easy question: The pos fans. I respect the organization the Cards have but will never root for them due to the douchebags who root for them. ****'em!

Now that I got that out of the way.

I've been hard on this team. My girlfriend(who watches every game with me) routinely asks me if I love or hate them? I tell her it's a fine line baby. I realize how the last 29 years have changed me. Prior to 1985 the Royals could do no wrong & I supported them without question. The last 29 years have made me a bitter old man.

Thanks Royals!

We probably put his kids through school. Spent lots and lots and lots of money on beer in RFGA.

I lived in Columbia from 1977 to 1986, so I know what you're sayin. Most Cardinal fans are good fans, but some are douche nozzles right up there with the worst Yankee fans.

I did some Googling on Joe Hess. He was with the Dept. of Agriculture (as an inspector agent) not USPS. I knew he was retired govt. Story about him is here:

That was my experience at Mizzou during the 85 Series -- and that was when the Royals were always good! Couldn't agree more with you.
