So Big Game is starting two of the biggest games in the past 20 seasons of ball. This is why we got him, lets see something.

I'm thinking Duffy comes out on fire and blisters everyone coming off his frustration during his last start.

Who would have ever thought that in a pitching matchup of Guthrie vs. Verlander, Guthrie would have the advantage?

Who's saying that? Verlanders FIP is 3.92 vs 4.41 for Guthrie.

Guthrie has a 4.31 ERA. Verlander has a 4.8 ERA. Verlander allowed 13 runs in 28.2 innings last month(19 in 35.1 including September) . Guthrie allowed 16 in 40.2 (17 in 47.2 including his September start) . Guthrie has been pitching much better than Verlander.

Maybe so, but if I need to win one game and those are my two options, I know who I'm taking and it ain't Jeremy Guthrie. That being said, I hope the 6 that gets hung on Guys pales in comparison to the 10 we hang on Verlander.

I'm saying 4 for 60 is more likely or even 3 for 48. He's got a lot of miles on him and will be 33. By comparison Sanchez got 5 for 80 from Detroit at age 28, but Shields has a little better numbers.

His agent will do better than that...

I won't even rule out 6 for 100.

Guys who throw 200 innings with the propensity for being clutch while also being fantastic clubhouse guys are easy sells. He'd be great for the Cubs with all of those young guys where they desperately need an anchor on their staff.

If he takes 3/48 his agent should probably be fired. All pitchers carry risk.

He's going to be 33. Teams are now refusing to go long term high dollar deals with pitchers over 30 years old. I imagine Verlander falling off a cliff so fast this year reaffirms that philosophy for them.
