Daniel Sorenson

I just hope the kid makes the roster. He's flashed some good stuff, seems to be around the ball a lot and well , he's 6'2" 208 and pretty fast for his size.

Talk has it Tyler Bray may go to IR. What's up with that ? I would rather just cut Murray and move on.

On a night where the Chiefs’ entire defense struggled, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Gaines — whose 4.38 speed and sticky coverage skills were touted by the Chiefs when they drafted him in the third-round in May — was the most visible culprit. He was beat for at least one touchdown and whistled for four penalties in the 34-14 loss.

safety is a very mental position

I'm beginning to think that our secondary coaches just plain suck.

Everyone looks like they don't know what the **** to do.

, who the hell said that I was praising Gaines? I've said several times that if it weren't for his status as a 3rd round pick, he would be cut and on the PS now. Dumbass.

It absolutely is. It's typical knee-jerk bullshit, like when Dontari Poe was getting stonewalled in his first year and everyone said he was a bust. Or Jonathan Baldwin having an excellent training camp and everyone screaming about him not getting more reps. Bobby Sippio was having such an awesome offseason -- why isn't he getting more reps? McDougald played great in the preseason. How stupid of us to pass on him (oh yeah, and every other team in the NFL too). Jerell Powe was such a preseason force... why would we not give him a shot, even though every team has repeatedly passed on him?

The idea that we've already made up our mind based on a few preseason games is beyond comical. Again... it's the preseason FOR A ROOKIE. Which is comical, coming from a forum that is hell bent on drafting a rookie QB. God help that guy.

Well, I'm glad that NFL teams aren't as knee-jerk as people here are.

I can't believe anyone would think of cutting Gaines at this point in his career.

Gaines was whistled for a defensive holding penalty that prolonged a Green Bay drive and more significantly when Gaines got beat for a 33-yard touchdown by receiver Jeff Janis, a seventh-round pick.

“I’ve just got to figure out a way to get better,” Gaines said. “All that matters is the end result, making plays on the ball. When the ball’s in the air, you’ve got to do it. No excuses. You’ve got to make it.”

The second half brought no relief. After Gaines’ aforementioned illegal contact penalty to start the second half, he was also flagged for defensive pass interference on a deep pass down the right sideline intended for Janis.

The 39-yard penalty aided a Green Bay drive that ended with a touchdown that put the Chiefs in a 27-7 third-quarter hole.

So that means we have to wait an entire season until we get to declare that Sorensen sucks?

He sucks RIGHT NOW. Why can't we just make the evaluation and be done?

You cut someone when you don't think that they are ready to contribute at all on your team, you put them on the PS if you think that they have potential that you can develop. Gaines looked absolutely terrible at times, he struggled a hell of a lot more than I thought he would and is at least a year away from being any more than a reserve guy.

The topic was tackling, dude. Not coverage.

Gaines also figures to be at the bottom of the depth chart, whereas Sorensen is one injury in the safeties away from getting playing time.

Hell, they might be stupid enough to use Sorensen as the 3rd safety.

Apparently you have.

I've already sent Dorsey an email telling him that OldSchool and SNR think Sorensen isn't very good and Malcolm Bronson should be resigned and that he should fire Reid for being a piss poor evaluator of talent because these two ****ing guys really have an eye for NFL talent and should replace Reid and his coaching staff because those guys don't know shit compared to them.

Done.

In the books.

Then Chiefsplanet should never again make an argument that we should draft a young QB and give him a few years to develop. We might as well trade away all our 4th round picks and up.

We're not talking about a 5-year veteran. We're talking about a rookie and we're screaming about a bunch of meaningless exhibition snaps. The idea that we should keep rookies around based on what they've done now vs. what the staff thinks they're capable of is beyond dumb and it's the same dumb logic that led fans to crucify Poe because we had Powe. And to hype the living hell out of Baldwin because he had some nice offseason practices.

The Chiefs took a gamble. If they whiffed, then shame on them. If we want to worry because our front office has made shaky personnel calls, then go ahead -- I'm right there with you. But judging a rookie based on his preseason snaps is just knee-jerk.

Sorensen had a couple of big fails.. The coaches put him in some tough situations that he got burned on a couple of times.. live and learn.

Too soon to be tripping on him.. calling him a bust or saying he sucks. They obviously must like what he is showing in daily practice and in the film room.

If the coaches suck and suck at assessing talent? Then Chiefs are screwed anyway. May as well give em a little rope to see if they hang selves with it.
