8 hours is the usual time it takes if you know how to road trip properly. I did it in 6.5 hours one time but would never attempt that again. |

As someone who commutes during big city traffic the speed limit really only applies during "slow" periods
I have learned that when there are a lot of cars out the speed you need to go is that of everyone else For the most part people go slightly (5mph) over the speed limit on my way to work, so someone going exactly the speed limit would probably slow things down. If someone is going 34 when everyone else is going 44 despite the speed limit being 35 then I would say that person is the wreckless one |

I drive from KC to Iowa City on the regular. 310 miles.
Takes 4 hours and 15 minutes on average. That's typically one restroom stop and a consistent 77-79 mph on the highway. And slowing down a bit through Des Moines and work zones of course. I'd just recommend doing 8 mph over and calling it good. State Troopers don't give a single shit if you go by them at this speed. And I find I'm a more engaged driver because I'm usually passing people for the most part and checking my gaps to see if someone is closing in on me. I'd say most people stick to 70-75 mph on the Interstate. You get the occasional guy blowing by you at 85-90 mph, but at my constant speed I'm mostly passing the entire time. I always see jack legs stomping on their brakes when they see a cop, but if you aren't driving insanely fast and just pass them at a constant speed I've never had an issue. Of course, I'm a white guy in a fairly unassuming vehicle wearing my seatbelt. I'm sure that helps. |

850 miles in 8 hours? So you are telling me that you averaged 106.25 mph without stopping to refuel or use the restroom in an 8 hour trip. You sir are either exaggerating because you think everyone will think your cool for driving fast or you are just a dumb ****ing liar.

Dallas to KC is a 500-600 mile drive depending on where you are leaving from in the metroplex. He's lying about the distance. The time is accurate though.

600 miles in 8 hours is an average speed of 75 mph. He stated very douchily that "oh, I was movin'". 75 mph is not brag worthy. He was attempting to look like some kind of badass by bragging about driving fast except he is too stupid to lie correctly.

It's actually pretty difficult to keep that average up due to Oklahoma state troopers around OKC, construction, and traffic between Dallas and OKC. Quickest I ever did was 6.5 hours (I got lucky with light traffic, almost no construction, and was able to haul balls on the turnpike in Kansas).
