The best fried chicken?

I am talking about national eateries, like if you drive for miles and have an urge to eat some fried chicken, which one place do you choose?

Aside from that, what is the best fried chicken you ever had, homemade or in restaurant?

By the way, all fried chicken lovers rejoice for this news!!!

The only beef I have about fried food, (actually is from my wife) is that the shortening that is used. Some stores only change the shortening once a week.

I don't eat much fried chicken but when I have the craving I always go to Pollo Campero!

It's fantastic flavor, their yucca fries are incredible, great selection and really affordable.

I got those about 3 weeks ago, 5 for 2.99? Tasted great at the time, next day, ring of fire, literally crapped blood and I have an iron gut. I think they were freezer burnt from sitting in storage.

I've been on record how good the practices were at the Hardees where I worked in HS.

Shortening lasted three days there. Three friers, first fries only, second fries and has rounds, third chicken sammiches. The third frier gets tossed, first gets fresh each moves down a rung.

My only complaint, they made us take the third frier shortening to waste disposal before it was cool. My buddy and I were carrying the bucket, some of it splashed on his forearm, and he ran off leaving me with a bucket-load of hot grease at my feet. 2nd degree burns kept me out of 4 weeks of my senior soccer season.

As for fried chicken, can't stand any chain outside Popeye's. Can't stand dark meat, can't stand anything less than piping hot. All I can taste is grease otherwise.

Even Popeye's is a disguise to get me some red beans and rice. Cajun sparkle, McIlhenny's, red beans, and rice. Foundation of any great meal.

For quick chicken Go Chicken Go by Rockhurst College is pretty darn good. The fried livers and gizzard with gravy dippin sauce were good. That stuff was deadly when you had to go back to work outside in the heat 95 with 60% humidity.
BOOHISS!!!!!

When this thread started, I was packing out of the hotel room in Memphis. If I'd have seen Nas and NewChiefs (in my Memphis thread) endorseagement for Gus', I'da brung some home.

Ruby and my sweet adopted momma Grace Harris (Grand Emporium) helped keep me alive back in the day. Ruby's chicken was great, but her neckbones & black-eyed peas were heavenly.

Never tried the neckbones and BE peas remember seeing them but was to busy flappin my gums on a fried chicken thigh.

My Dad loved to chew on a chicken neck. Hell now the Tysons, Hudsons and Pilgrams dont even stick the neck inside the whole chicken like they used to. Guess nobody wants it now.

Sneaky's chicken, Sioux City, IA. ****ing greasy and delicious. Their grease pit in the back of the building is overrun by chicken grease eating raccoons. In fact, it's on their logo.

For a chain place, I like Cracker Barrel's buttermilk fried chicken special on Sundays. Pretty cheap at like 8 or 9 bucks.
