Jesus, I can't believe the bigotry from this guy. Please read and feel free to comment on the actual story.

Don't know how much this guy knew about Phelps, he read an obituary on TheOnion as factual. Might be low information on that count
But he seems high information on gay employees photographing him nude without permission in a hotel shower.

Yeah, but this article was really about a local government official in Arizona, not Phelps. He approved of Phelps' stance on gays apparently, but it's not clear that he was the kind of guy who would protest at the funeral of dead US servicemen or that he even agreed with those protests.

It's truly amazing how many souls Fred Phelps had collected by the time he finally left this Earth. Full ownership of so many hearts and minds....from people who couldn't ignore him. And he's not done yet. He still speaks from the grave to many of you out there. Like a long-range CB radio.

No doubt he is not the kind of guy who would protest at the funerals of dead US Servicemen. The thing is, that is the only thing that distinguishes Phelps from a million other preachers.

It's kind of like praising Hitler because he did a good job at making the trains run on time. Praise of Phelps ought to be, and probably is, touching the third rail for a politician.

I don't really disagree with that. I was just surprised that when I read the article, I didn't really find the kind of over-the-top bigotry that I expected from the OP's "Jesus, I can't believe the bigotry from this guy.".

Phelps is qualitatively and quantitatively different from a million other preachers. He's a predeterminist Calvinist. He thinks ALL mankind are pieces of shit, unless God preordained them for salvation.
