Texans Sign Ryan Fitzpatrick?
I'm not sure why they did this.
Unless they plan on drafting Clowney. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...n-fitzpatrick/ |

Could they just plan on rolling with Schaub and Fitz as his backup?

@AdamSchefter: Oakland Raiders now are expected to trade a 2014 late-round pick to Houston Texans in exchange for QB Matt Schaub, per league source.

@AdamSchefter: Cleveland expressed some interest in Matt Schaub, who could have been reunited with Kyle Shanahan, but Oakland wanted Schaub even more.

No. Schaub will not be back with Houston next year. Way too much damage has occurred on both sides. Rumor is he will be in Oakland next season via trade.

@RavensInsider: Matt Schaub has a $14.437 million salary-cap figure, $10 million base salary and a roster bonus of $62,500 per game active for 2014

If the Texans are scared of Jacksonville getting Manziel then why don't they draft him. The Texans are going to suck next year. |

Whether you take a QB or not, having a veteran there is always important.

"Fitzpatrick is never going to be a great quarterback, but he can be a competent quarterback while the Texans figure out if they can draft a quarterback who will eventually be great."
Same thing was said about Smith, both in SF and in KC. I think Fitz has got plenty of game in him. Houston has plenty of pieces that he might be able to thrive in. I will never understand why people give no credence to the environment that these guys play in. It's as if the team around a QB has no effect on the performance of the QB himself. I don't KNOW that Fitz will break out with the Texans, nor do I KNOW that he won't. I'd think all these guys that make these blanket statements based on stats alone would settle down a bit after being so wrong about Smith. |
