PFF and Football Outsiders O Line Review - By The Numbers

http://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2018/...ffensive-line/

A few surprises here...

No one has ever confused Fisher with Willie Roaf, but his numbers were even worse than I anticipated

Schwartz coming in roughly middle of the pack giving up pressures

Doc Tardif tied for fewest pressure among guards with the Cowboys Zack Martin, you gotta love that Canadian mfer

- - -

Here is where it gets weird, according to their numbers, hang onto your hats... the Chiefs were #1 in power run blocking, huhwha?

Andy Heck sucks! O-line has been mediocre since he has been here.. I swear our running backs have to fight off defenders just to get back to the line of scrimmage. Time for change .

Offensive line as a whole
Allowed 153 total pressures in regular season, tied with Dallas for 11th fewest allowed in NFL

Well this shits on the idea that our OL has pass protection issues.

I think we were really bad with it in 2016, and the blocking didn't improve a whole lot but Kareem did a much better job picking up that one yard.
As long as they upgrade LG, I'll be satisfied, because what O City says below will also be true I'd bet... teams trying to stack the box on Mahomes are signing their own death warrant

Schwartz is no pro bowler!!! I saw him get burned plenty this past season. Didn't hear anyone talk about it but on the last play of the Titans playoff game............Schwartz was so slow off the ball that the DE was PAST HIM when he finally got out of his 3 point stance. The DE was in the backfield already when he took his hand off the ground. What the hell he was doing.......I have no idea!

I know Fisher had that one game against the Texans putting Ajax Watt down to the ground but really what other games has he shown to be an all pro LT?

Stand up and shout "Our new quarterback will make the ol look a lot better"

He made our backups look good against a first string defense in Denver.

O.city is right IMO too... it really takes a special, specific type of skill set to be able to make your OL better than maybe they really are. I think you have to be able to shred the defense inside and outside the pocket. That's the kind of skill set that makes pass rushers a little more hesitant because they know if the QB slips out of the pocket, a big play is coming.

Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are fantastic examples of this right now.

Ehinger never got a fair shot this year bc Andy usually sticks with the line that starts the season. Ehinger was significantly better as a rookie than Witzmann was this year, plus he said he bulked up this past offseason.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he is our starting LG next year.

If Ehinger could regain his 2016 form, I'm all for it. But I don't want Veach/Reid to count on that too much.
