Supernatural is always cool and can be truly creepy, but everything is cookie cutter. I think more terrifying movies should go the line of.. the protagonist doesn't win.

I watched the Exorcist with two buddies in high school late one night in my home on HBO and one of them was afraid to drive his bike home. He was 16 years old.
That was some scary shit! I also got creeped out by the movie "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" the original. A TV movie that was extremely scary for me as I was relatively young was something called "Trilogy of Terror" with Karen Black and a little doll that came alive. It was scary shit for it's time.
