The Patriots didn't even know the top seed was on the line for both of those games. If the Patriots had won the first game and then Chiefs won out the rest of the way, Chiefs would still have HFA and #1 seed.

Patriots didn't know for sure that Chiefs would lose at Seattle.

Y'all literally have an excuse for everything. NE didn't know HFA was on the line, huh? How could they NOT know since KC hadn't clinched? HFA is on the line until it isn't. And when does a team "know" that another team if gonna lose?

I swear, Pats fans...

And given Patriots have played at home in the AFC Championship when they were the #2 seed, they didn't even no for sure that losing the number 1 seed would result in being on the road for AFC Championship game.

So... the Pats can't see in to the future? You really don't see how dumb the "they didn't know" excuse is???

If Patriots lose this game, I'd be surprised if Arrowhead was more then let's say a 4-5 point swing in Chiefs favor. Even though Chiefs play better at home, they were not gonna pull a Chargers and go to Foxborough and lay an egg.

4-5 point swing is quite significant...

In other words if Chiefs blow the Patriots out by 30 in this game, I suspect they would have dominated on the road as well -- I am just assuming same weather here is both locations.

This is just dumb. NE dominated Miami at home and lost by 1 on the road.
But by your logic, since NE didn't dominate KC at home there is no way they can beat them on the road then.

If one looks at literally all of the playoff losses of the Patriots and watch the games during the Brady era, the conclusion in my opinion is they really weren't far off from winning nearly all of them. Only a few plays changing could have dramatically changed things. They sometimes really played bad but it was more so their own mistakes.

Does it also works the other way too? Were the Patriots also not far from losing nearly all of them too? KC lost 4 games this year by 14 points. We were basically undefeated, right?

On the other hand, on a few of their home losses they have gotten their ***** handed to them. See Baltimore games....Outclassed in those games.

If the Chiefs destroy the Patriots at Arrowhead like 40-10 without a key Patriot(s) being injured, they have a _truly great_ team right now and it would be somewhat of a surprise for them to not win the Super Bowl.

Chiefs players won't make the mistake but I think Chief fans are sorely mistaken if they think this game will be easy since the Patriots went 3-5 on the road.

I swear NE fans are the dumbest most insecure fans I've ever encountered. Being confident in victory doesn't mean it will be easy. ESPN gives KC a 66% chance to win, but the Chiefs are only a 3 point favorite. So does that mean ESPN thinks the game is gonna be easy too?

2 losses first month of the season without Brady's security blanket to make third downs(Edelman) and 2 of the other losses very competitive with the Patriots obviously blowing the Miami game on a fluke play.

More excuses. I thought it was Brady's MCL? Why not blame it on the cover 2? Is KC entitled to use these excuses too? Like how we were down multiple offensive linemen, safety's and Houston? Or maybe how it was only Mahomes 7th game of his career?

If Mahomes plays as well as Blake Bortles did at home against the Patriots, Chiefs win.

LOL... Yeah... really impossible to expect Mahomes to play as well as Bortles... LOL

But Bortles played won of the best games of his career in that particular game. Only on a few plays was he taking advantage of wide open receivers. He made a ton of throws to very well covered receivers. He was flat out tremendous and was willing to sacrifice his body on a few runs as well to try to pick up first downs. If he played like that each week on a consistent basis, he would probably be most coveted QB in the entire league. He doesn't and that is why his days as a starter are probably close to permanently being over.

LOL... Yeah... really impossible to expect Mahomes to play as well as Bortles... LOL

Bortles stat line from that game:

29-45, 376 YDS, 4 TD, 1 INT 111.0

Mahomes stats from week 6:

23-36, 352 YDS, 4 TD, 2 INT 110.0

Mahomes passer rating for then ENTIRE 2018 season? 112.

Nah... no way Mahomes can match Blake ****ing Bortles...

Gameplan?
If you don’t know our game plan then you’re even dumber than everyone is giving you credit for. We’re gonna run Williams down your throat (kinda like your mom get cock run down her throat to make sure her idiot son can pay his rent), then we’re gonna go deep with Hill (like you let all the guys you meet on Grindr go deep and bareback on you), then our MVP 2nd year starting phenom qb is gonna throw strikes (like your gonna throw strikes to your wall after your team gets beat Sunday night after spewing all this shit this week), then our DL is gonna maul your line and Brady (like you got mauled by your moms dog when you were a baby hence you having that short stub of a dick), then the crowd noise and pressure will make Tom throw a pick (like you throw your shoulder out of socket every year you pat yourself on the back when going 5-1 in your shit division), then we’re gonna hoist the Lamar Hunt trophy (like you hoist the container of GHB to your lips before you head out to the gay club).

Feel better now Mr Short Dick?

Lollygagging. You ****ing tool. Keep living in your dreamworld where it's apparently worse to lose by a field goal in LA than getting your shit pushed in by the Lions.
Cmon, you’re missing the genious of BB. He bamboozled us by losing those games so he could make us think their weak and don’t play well on the road. You know... so they can come to a place of nightmares for them (to the tune of only one win at Arrowhead EVAH!!) it’s Bills super impressive rope a dope plan and so far it’s going off without a hitch!

I don't even consider him an incredible talent at this stage since it appears as though he has a lost a little speeed but just a very good one in a role that Patriots could use. I may be wrong -- only the Patriots really no for sure -- but I actually thought he did a good job picking up the Patriots offense.

If the Patriots still had another play maker like the sure handed Amendola or more of a deep threat in Cooks or Gronk hadn't lost a 1/4 of a step, I'd be less concerned with the absence of Gordon. Yes, Edelman is on this years team and was hurt last year but a weakness of this years team is really not having a downfield threat that scares teams.

Even if he is going to retire after this year, Gronkowski's decline is way overstated but he has lost a 1/4 of a step and that does make him a bit less of a receiving threat.

Gordon was still a part of the 6 game winning streak. While he obviously doesn't know the route tree as well as Hogan or Dorsett, his general NFL experience really did help him get up to speed rather quickly. And whenever I watched him, he seemed to be a willing blocker and ran his routes pretty hard even when he had to know he was just a decoy on many plays.

From a selfish Patriots perspective, the good news is Gordon presence on the team probably helped out the other wide receivers and Gronk take a few less hits.

Assuming they get by KC -- a big assumption -- I'd flat out pick against the Patriots winning the Super Bowl if their wasn't a week off after this upcoming game. Win or lose, I suspect Edelman, Gronk, and White to a lesser extent to take a beating in this game.
Gronk has lost WAY more than a quarter step.

Dude threatened to retire last year if traded to the Lions, will retire this offseason, and was a shell of his former self down the stretch.

I don't think I said they lollygagged vs the Steelers.

They most certainly mailed it in vs MIA.

The 2018 Pats have had a tough time getting up for games on the road. That what happens to teams that have been kicking ass for 18 years.

Don't call me a tool. I've been respectful on this board. I expect the same courtesy.

Chiefs will have 4 players on defense who didn't even play against NE the first time. 2 were all-pros, 1 looks like a pretty good young corner and the other is Sorensen (meh).

KC's safeties (parker and Shaw) who played in that NE game aren't even on the team anymore. Neither is Josh Gordon for NE (who definitely played a factor last game).

I'm actually pretty optimistic about the defense going into this weekend, but the main concern is stopping the run.

We did a pretty good job of stopping Indy's rushing attack. Hopefully we have a repeat performance.

Please provide those stats. But since 2003 Miami has the second best recordin the AFCE at 44.5%, which would be good for 4th in every other division except the NFCE.

Sure, you still win the game, but having bye and HFA increases the odds that you do.
