Antonio Brown missed practices, game after dispute with teammate

https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/...s/201812310108

Steelers receiver Antonio Brown did not play in the season-ending game against the Cincinnati Bengals because he elected to sit out practice last week after an unspecified heated dispute with a teammate, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has learned.

Several sources said the Steelers’ decision to not play Brown against the Bengals had nothing to do with any type of knee injury.

The disagreement occurred Wednesday morning during a routine walk-through practice that precedes their regular afternoon practice on the South Side. Brown became disgusted and threw a football in anger at one of his teammates, several sources said.

After that, Brown did not practice the rest of the week. According to a source, it was Brown’s decision not to practice with his teammates.

He did not attend Saturday’s walk-through practice and skipped the Saturday night meeting at the team hotel — the latest in missed meetings by the All-Pro receiver. Brown was never on the field for the start of the game against the Bengals and left Heinz Field at halftime, according to multiple sources.

According to several sources, Brown showed up at Heinz Field expecting to play against the Bengals. That surprised several players, including one who called the situation “embarrassing” and “the worst I’ve seen.” That player said the entire situation and the way it was handled affected his desire to play in the game.

• Brown slammed the media on the first day of mandatory minicamp, appearing to question why he plays, saying, “Am I playing football to make a lot of money or am I playing football to take care of my family?” Brown continued, saying the media puts pressure on him and that he is unable to go out in public because of it.
• Brown showed up in a helicopter to training camp.
• Brown disappeared for a week during training camp. Mike Tomlin claimed that he had been sent to Pittsburgh for medical tests, but Brown was filmed in a pool in Miami.
• Brown reportedly called Bouchette a “racist” after Bouchette tweeted that Brown was limping at training camp. He then called Bouchette a “clown” on Twitter. Reportedly, Brown apologized to Bouchette.
• Brown showed up more than four hours late to an event at Children’s Hospital, offering no explanation as to why he was so late.

• Brown was spotted by CBS cameras hugging former Browns offensive coordinator Todd Haley during a game against Cleveland. He then was caught bragging about reaching 10,000 career receiving yards to Haley on team’s Snapchat, minutes after the 21-21 tie.
• Brown was seen yelling at his offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner and wide receivers coach Darryl Drake on the sideline. He then left the locker room before media could ask him about it vs Chiefs.

• Brown failed to show up for Monday meetings after the Chiefs game. He then told the media he was “pissed off” because “we suck.”
• Brown was sued for trashing his Florida apartment and then claimed he had $80,000 in cash and a gun stolen from him. He was also sued for tossing furniture from the 14th floor of his apartment building, nearly hitting and, potentially, killing a 22-month-old toddler.
• Brown was cited for driving in excess of 100 miles per hour on McKnight Road, which was over 55 miles per hour more than the posted speed limit. Brown reportedly told police that he was late for a team meeting.
• Brown repeatedly posted his personal accolades on social media after Steelers losses, including a crucial 31-28 loss in New Orleans.
• Brown reportedly got into a disagreement with Roethlisberger in practice, throws a football at him and leaves practice.
• Brown reportedly skips the team’s walk through the day before Bengals game, shows up before the game, is told he won’t play and leaves at halftime.
All of these incidents, some major, some minor, have occurred since the last offseason. Brown, who will turn 31 in July, is set to have a base salary of $12,625,000 in 2019. He is signed through the 2021 season.
The one in bold seems like a particularly bad idea, even when listed in a group of other bad ideas. It would have been interesting to see how that played out if he killed someone.

My wife got a text while this was occurring and mandated that I rush to the scene and dive under a glass coffee table...you know, for the family. Unfortunately, some little attention-seeking-8yr-old fraud beat me to it and now he has unlimited XBox games for the rest of his life.

Some people have all the luck.

Apparently it's a sign of good financial acumen. The person whose kid was playing dodge-ottoman is a billionaire and sued Antonio. He saw a good revenue opportunity and acted quickly.

It's worth clicking the link to see the picture of the condo building, too. Antonio is in the slums if he's only on the 14th floor.

It's an amazing story, but it's more amazing that your link was the Black Christian News. Post a link from there and mention Eric Berry and you're fixing to start a race war on CP.

In all seriousness, there's nothing in my life I would take more pleasure from than taking Antonio Brown to civil court and winning hundreds of thousands of dollars. That is everything that's right and just in the world.

I love Joe Flacco, this was his best year so far but yet his record was 4-5 for the 9 games he played. Offense went too quickly down the field, sort of like KC, which put the defense back out there. That's probably one of the problems you have in KC, that your defense is on the field a lot because your offense is so proficient. I'm sure this next draft Andy will be addressing the defense. Our defense has soared because of our ball control. If we don't go all the way, then I hope you guys win it all, I love watching Mahomes.
I disagree.
Defense is out there a lot from penalties, giving up yards on 3rd down and Sutton.

The Steelers probably won’t even trade him inside the conference, but definitely not to a team like that.

AB is a diva and probably a major asswipe to boot. (Or is that assboot to wipe? ... whatever.)

Nonetheless, I don't blame him for wanting out of that organization. Why would someone want to keep walking back into a dumpster fire?

It probably won't happen, but it would be fascinating drama to see some team take him and Bell both.

Given the amount of draft capital available to the Faid, I can see AB going there. (Vegas, baby!). The Colts also have a crap ton of cap space available next year and they could be interested, as well. Somebody will want to make a deal, that much is certain.

Maybe Benji will finally pay for throwing his teammates under a bus that also just backed up over his fat ass.
