Package Deal with Bienemy and Dorsey?
Sources tell Matt Lombardo of FanSided that Eric Bieniemy and John Dorsey could be a package deal.
The upcoming hiring season should begin in the next few weeks in the NFL as one of several frustrated teams hungry for new leadership will make the first move to hire a new regime. For one team, it could include a reunion of former and current Kansas City Chiefs employees. Matt Lombardo, National NFL columnist for FanSided, has word that former Chiefs general manager John Dorsey and current offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy might make themselves available as a package deal of sorts for a team looking to recreate the stable success of Kansas City. https://arrowheadaddict.com/2020/12/...deal-new-team/ Interesting. So if that is the case Bienemy would be looking for a place with a HC and GM opening.. |

It's quite clear that the front office, coaching staff and players haven't been able to recover from their Super Bowl loss and they need to trade everyone of value, including Matt Ryan, and start over, much like the Dolphins have in the past year. A clean slate removes any stigma from that loss and allows the entire franchise to be built from the ground up, without carrying the stigma and guilt from that loss. |

I really do not believe this story about a hiring connection between Dorsey and Bienemy. It would make no sense for Eric to limit his hiring possibilities to a team that would only hire John Dorsey to run the team.
Could they end up at the same place? They could, but as a team owner, the highest position I would give John Dorsey is Director of Pro Personnel or a position like that. I agree with others that he can be very good at seeing football talent, but his failure to manage the money and handle the PR, leaves him lacking at running the whole football operations. The Atlanta Falcons might be a place for both of them. Arthur Blank is a pretty good owner. Atlanta parted ways with GM Thomas Dimitroff and 61 year old Rich McKay has been running the team. Perhaps Rich could continue running the team but allow John Dorsey to come in and get their football talent in order. Atlanta could also be a good team for Eric Bienemy. With Matt Ryan already in place, the Falcons can do like the Chiefs and draft their QB of the future as they see a good opportunity to do so. The NFC South is ready for a change with the aging of Tom Brady and Drew Brees. It is open for the Atlanta Falcons. Houston Texans would be a terrible place for Eric Bienemy to go. They have Cal McNair as the owner. They have traded away their draft picks as-well-as some of their better players. The NFL cap for next year is projected at between $176,000,000 to $178,000,000 and the Texans will probably have to cut even further some of their better players. |

The whole “Dorsey set up this team” bc he was GM is not factual. It’s partially fact. I think we did so well bc Andy brought his outstanding coaching staff of 2 current HC’s and 2 future HC’s with him and Dorsey brought in key guys. Ballard is a good GM and Dorsey brought him here. Dorsey was also able to snag a couple of the Seahawks personnel guys from their amazing personnel run and those guys helped us find nice cheap role players like Spencer Ware and Ron Parker. It wasn’t a “Dorsey did this” or “Veach did that” deal. It was just an amazing personnel and coaching staff that worked together and kicked ass.

As it stands, they are 8-3 with one quality win over the Colts, which may or may not turn out to be "quality" after all. |

Again, nobody is questioning the talent scout part of it.
He left KC in cap hell and he got fired in Cleveland for making one of the worst HC hires in recent memory. If you want to say he'd make a great personnel director, I won't argue. He's a TERRIBLE GM because a general manager has a lot more to do than just the draft. |

Two teams that were stacked with talent after he was let go. Both teams are doing great because of the talent they have now. Maybe, he was just lucky but I'm guessing a team like the Lions would like to see some of that "Luck".
He's possibly learned from his cap mistakes or will bring someone in to help him improve in that area. Or maybe not and he's just an arrogant prick who will continue on with his same ways. I still think he'll get another chance. |
