Close, it was a 4th and 2 that he got injured breaking up a pass. I watched the condensed game just now. That's the only play I saw him make in the game though.

I remember talk here during the season that Emmitt Thomas was going to retire this off-season. I think that there was even a former player pining for his job on NFL Network or something wasn't there? Not that I'm pushing for him to leave. I think that he's actually done pretty well developing players. I know that Sean Smith had his best years under him.

Our DL was the bright side of this abortion of a defense. Britt is the least of our worries

If our Defensive line was so good then why did our run defense suck shit?

Why would we keep any of the coaches from our shit defense? Wouldn't you want to get rid of the stink and start fresh? I'm not getting the love affair with Britt Reid.

There's no love affair. Hes an assistant. And if spags thinks he's terrible he'll become more involved. Good chance he's matched with another assistant too. But overall I'm still putting most of the blame on Suttons incompetence above all things.

A major problem for us was defensive alignment and ILB’s. Sutton constantly called for the nickel/dime sub packages and good QB’s torched us. Watch the Patriots game again and you’ll see Brady checking to runs when he saw 2 DL and a money backer on the field.

Idk why people shit on Britt. He’s done a fantastic job developing DL. Jaye Howard turns into a good player under him, so did Chris Jones and this year Derrick Nnandi developed very nicely.

DL was the only spot on defense where there was consistent development being seen.

Britt is a really good teacher of technique. Anyone going to camp should spend an hour watching him work. When I get time in a couple weeks, I’ll try to post some videos of him working with Jones and Nnadi from a few feet away. It’s a shame some people here clown the guy because he’s Andy’s son. If he keeps developing talent like he has, somebody will offer him a DC job in a couple years.

Holy shit that’s a great hire.

Spags nailed the DB and LB coach hires.

The Chiefs have hired Dave Merritt as their new defensive backs coach, per Yates (Twitter link). Merritt was actually hired as the Jaguars’ assistant defensive line coach earlier this offseason, but Jacksonville has apparently let him out his contract in order to pursue a better opportunity. The 47-year-old Merritt worked under new Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo in New York, working as the Giants’ defensive backs coach alongside Spags from 2007-08. The Chiefs haven’t announced whether incumbent secondary coaches Emmitt Thomas and Al Harris will be retained.

Great hire hopefully neither Thomas or Harris will be retained.

I may be alone here, but I really don’t think the CBS were the problem...or, more specifically, the coaching of the CBS. Nelson graded highly, Fuller was good and Ward developed into a solid starter.

The safeties and ILBs were trash, though.

I think you are putting too much stock into PFF which is trash. Nelson is not starter material he cant locate the ball to save his life. I think Fuller is ok but had a bad year, I'm still waiting to see Ward play more than a few games before I crown him but he did play well. Best tackler on the team too which might be a problem.
