Seahawks WR Jermaine Kearse will hit the market.

I always liked this guy as a #2 WR.

Thoughts?

A agree with Sac - this is going to be impossible once we trade up to 20 and grab Jaylon.

You'll just have to make due with Jamaal running WR screens as our new X...

Spencer Ware may actually be a better pure RB for the kind of change of pace this offense needs. His ability to just beat the shit out of people and force teams to keep more bulk on the field to answer for him allows us to make more space.

With Charles back there, you just put speed everywhere and it'll work itself out. You try to do that with Ware and he'll just run you the !@#$ over. So you put in a LBer or bigger box safety and now we're able to find a little more room in the passing game as well.

If you used Charles on jet-sweep actions and had him running all those plays that Wilson was running....holy ****, how do you deal with that? If he gets the ball, he's in space. If you throw him the ball, he's in space. If you hand it to Ware, Charles is such a threat that he's almost certainly pulled someone out of the middle on the sweep action.

It'll never happen and truthfully maybe it shouldn't, but someone tell me why Charles couldn't be the X receiver in this offense, especially if we increase the number of jet-sweeps. When Ware needs a break, you just move Charles to the backfield and put Wilson back out there. It would extend Jamaal's career by taken a bunch of hits off his body and I think we'd be a better team for it.
I'd love to see it happen but I think what's more than likely to happen is Reid going to back how he was before Charles got hurt.

I don't think I'd put him at the X, because of route polishness (seriously, wtf does that word mean) but I'd absolutely put Charles in the DAT role and some WR next year.

They're 1 really good #2 WR away from having a really good offensive skill set of guys.

I still think they need a better RT too, but damn.

Charles is just so dynamic in the open field. Like, maybe the best guy i've ever seen there.

Get him in those packaged plays out wide where Smith decides based on box numbers, jets sweeps, end arounds, wheel routes.

Because rookies in general don't contribute immediately and Reid's offense is harder for first year guys to pick up.

But once DAT went down, we re-imagined how to use those actions and did it with the X.

With as fond of 2 TE sets as Andy is, wouldn't being able to get those same looks from your X receiver be a better use of personnel than needing to re-install that 'gadget' player in the Y role?

I know it's Madden shit, but if you could get him just to be a tolerable route runner (pure physical ability will make him better at it than Conley), you could make this offense an absolute terror with Charles in the X.

I was away when the Jaylon Smith idea was brought up. Thats intriguing.

If he's healthy, that lets you keep a LB on the field in the nickel instead of a safety. I like it.

I think Jamal at the Y instead of the 2 TE sets makes the offense just as dynamic and quicker. Hell, teach Charles how to run a hot route and the option routes that Edelman slays at, added to the end arounds and such and go from there.

I just don't really like having him at the X in that it takes another route runner off the field and I feel as if next year we have to get more explosion from the passing game.
Charles could help that, but I dunno about his ability at WR.

It was a joke.

Back to regularly scheduled WR programming.

And fuller didn't exactly play in the most complicated offense at ND, especially after Kelly tried to simplify it a little to take advantage of Zaire's playmaking ability.

I think Fuller would have a learning curve, but I think his skill-set fits what we'd be looking for nicely.
