USS The Sullivans (museum ship) partially sinks
This sucks.



The World War II era destroyer, USS The Sullivans, suffered a hull rupture and partially sank in her mooring at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park in Buffalo, New York. Launched in 1943, she was named in honor of the five Sullivan brothers who were all killed aboard the USS Juneau during the Battle of Guadalcanal. Funds had been raised to make hull repairs, but the work had been suspended over the winter and was scheduled to resume next Monday. Talk about shitty timing.

Hopefully they can save her.

The Sullivan brothers are holy ground in my area. Waterloo Iowa has the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum and numerous other buildings and parks named after them.
Fun fact, I dated one of the Granddaughters of one of the Sullivan Brothers.

Hopefully they can save this museum ship.

Yeah, this made local news, as anything with the Brothers do.

I had a teacher named Mr. Sullivan in Waterloo. Whenever he was asked if he was related to the Sullivan Brothers, he would say "Yes, I'm one of them." I loved that.

Glad to see that Sullivan Brothers Museum is reorienting its front door situation. Such a great museum.
